Owner description: Enjoy the beautiful Andean landscape of Peru on board of a luxury and magical way to travel between Cusco and the Lake Titicaca. Travelling in the PeruRail Titicaca Train is a unique experience, a route between mountains, clouds, snow-capped mountains and puna finishing in the majestic Lake Titicaca. Its coaches involve you in an environment extremely decorated with the elegant style of Pullman trains of the decade of 1920. Its tourist shows, the 5-fork lunch, dining cars, observatory-bar car outdoors, among other attractions.

An experience not to be missed. Not the quickest way from Puno to Cusco - we were overtaken by tuk-tuks!! - but certainly the most interesting. Able to walk around and into observation car with its open rear. Went through market where some traders spread their wares between the rails. Wonderful scenery, excellent cuisine served with panache.

This is an upmarket but very slow train journey that takes you from Cusco to Puno on Lake Titicaca. It takes about ten hours. (The journey is actually quicker by road and plane and just as cheap. ) It is however a must for train enthusiasts. The old traditional carriages are clean and comfortable, food and drink are freely available and largely free of charge. We were provided with an excellent breakfast (continental with choice of eggs) and a very pleasant afternoon tea of cakes and sandwiches. The lunch however was disappointing as we found the main course (trout) to be overcooked to the point of being inedible, and cold on its arrival at our table. However the journey reveals the most beautiful and variable scenery and an insight into the rural life of indigenous people that are seen enroute. The high altitude at La Raya (5800metres) visibly affected some people who got off the train to visit the market. Moving at a snails pace through the middle of the bustling market in Juliaca was quite an experience.

Spent the 10 hours from Puno to Cusco. Only two carriages of travelers and a nice bar and observation car. Lots of attentive staff. Food good.

We took the upscale train from Puno to Cusco. It is worth the extra money to take the train over the bus.
