We ate dinner at PachaPapa and had the guinea pig (cuy) as we were told it is a local delicacy. There is an outside garden and indoor seating too. Our Waiter Danny was terrific and friendly and made our experience wonderful. The food was very good and the menu extensive with Cusco favorites. A great place.

Having breakfast there was like a visit to granny's house in the countryside: their patio is arranged around a traditional Peruvian round oven with very simple decor details from rural life
Its charming and food was good as well

This place was in the back of our guide book and we were lucky enough to snag a reservation at this gem. The open courtyard is really pleasant, and they had umbrellas and heaters out. There's a really nice wood-fired oven in the middle of the courtyard, and the smells wafting from there were amazing.

The food was great. All the local specialties, and really reasonable prices (most expensive entrees were S/40, most were around S/25 ($10). The bread and dipping sauces they brought out were great, appetizers were good, and entrees (vegetarian pizza, lomo saltado, ají de gallina, lamb, and fire-roasted beef) were really, truly delectable.

Also, the service was truly superb. We arrived even 20min before our reservation and were seated immediately. Then when it started raining and hailing, we were moved inside no problem. Our waiter, Dany Ríos, was super friendly and extremely attentive. I had already talked with my family about writing this review on TripAdvisor before he mentioned it!

Also, as to the touristy part, at least when we were seated inside there was a large Peruvian party there and then some locals came in for drinks.

In sum, I'd highly recommend this place! Go with Pachapapa!!
