“Wonderful Cusco Hostel!”
Reviewed August 31, 2013

This is a lovely hostel with large comfortable rooms and clean bathrooms. We booked a triple private room for our arrival in Cusco and stayed for several days. We enjoyed the location and facilities so well we came back on our return from Machu Picchu and stayed for a couple of more days. Approx 6 blocks from Plaza de Armas - gives you enough distance for peace and quiet, but not too far to walk. Plenty of taxi's available if you prefer to ride.

We stayed here for 3-4 nights in June, it was a beautiful old colonial building with a gorgeous central courtyard where breakfast was served everyday. They initially only had a twin room for my husband and I but happily moved us as soon as we could and were willing to negotiate a lower price as we stayed for several days. They kept our backpacks for free while we went to Machu Picchu. The rooms could get a bit noisy at night simply because of the echoes in the courtyard but never late. Wifi connection was good and there was regular hot water, a joy in cold cold Cusco!

This hostel is clean, and staff was pretty friendly and helpful (though their english isn't too good). Definitely not amazing, but serves a purpose and in pretty good location (Close to chabad with kosher food). Quiet at night, and safe inside the hostel. Not a great area to walk around past 9pm.

We chose this hostal because it was highly rated on Tripadvisor. It is inexpensive and it is located in a colonial house that desperately needs updating. We spent several nights. The breakfast is very simple (two pieces of Huaro-bread, one egg, jam, juice and coffee). The lady attending the breakfast area is very clear…you only get one egg, one small glass of juice and one coffee! The hot tea is free.
The staff was neither rude nor friendly. The hot water becomes an issue if you shower late in the morning. The hostal is inexpensive and you get what you pay for. If you need a heater, you can have one for an additional charge, although the beds have multiple blankets that keep you warm. The bathroom is an issue, as the open vent communicates with the rest of the building and other rooms. Unless the bathroom door is kept shut, the honeymooners, kids or music may keep you up. For those of you who suffer from allergies we give you a fair warning, the bathroom has noticeable mildew between the tiles. The lighting in the bedroom is very poor.

We stayed here for four nights. When we arrived the staff could not find our reservation, so we had to sit and wait while they fiddled with the computer for ten minutes (pretty frustrating after a long bus ride). Eventually they got it all sorted out, though. Our room was big and comfy. The wifi worked in the room and was very fast. The only downside was that our bathroom always smelled bad, but we just had to keep the door closed (we were in room 406). We had a good time at this hostel, the only downsides are the price, the smelly bathroom (may just have been our room), and the reservation mixup. All in all I'd recommend it.

When we got there, they did not have any heaters left even though we reserved and we had really cold nights (32 F), Room we got was very old, the floors creaked when walking.
Breakfast in the morning we received terrible service.

The new rooms are very nice, the old ones did not have enough outlets when we finally got a heater that did not work.

Room Tip: get the rooms in the new section in the back, but we had to get the old ones since the new ones did...

We stayed here June 2013. They were happy to store our bags before we had even registered. Lovely to have an area to use and have some supper and also meet other guests.
Good warm rooms, warm shower. Felt very safe and close to the centre of town.
Love the whole set up. Breakfast was made to order and well received.
