I only stayed one night at the Mallqui Hostal and it was pleasant enough. The rooms were ok for the price (37USD for a double) but the toilet was very small. Everything else was fine but it was quite noisy. I could hear all conversations taking place anywhere in the hostel from my room and when everyone is waking up at 5 am to go on their tours it is quite annoying. The breakfast service was slightly slow and not plentiful, otherwise it's ok.

I have stayed at the Mallqui four times. Each time, I have had a comfortable room, the staff are all friendly, helpful, and great. Rooms are comfortable, cable TV with movie channels, immaculate bathroom with hot showers, and so quiet. I never hear a peep at night, and I am a light sleeper. Breakfast is charming, consisting of fresh juice, fruit salad, breads, eggs, coffee or tea. Location is super, just 2-3 blocks from San Francisco Square, the Main Plaza is just 2 more blocks. It is a quiet, safe neighborhood. You can walk everywhere from here. Each time I come here I am greeted by name. An incredible value for $23 single. There are now four new computers for guest use (free), and free WiFi in the lobby. This is where I will always stay when I am in Cusco.

We stayed here 9 nights during our trip in Cusco. We did lots of research to find the best value hotel and Mallqui is it! For $30 a night you get a lovely clean, spacious room and a yummy American breakfast every morning! You get cable tv- 100 channels, hot water and your room cleaned and towels changed every day! The almost cleaned too much!
The staff are lovely and speak very good English. There is a computer, and free fast wi-Fi in the rooms. There are also nice communal areas with free coca tea.
It's also about 4 blocks from main plaza, and close to good resturants.
Would highly recommend this place!!

Located only three blocks from the Plaza de Armas and in a safe environment, Hostal Mallqui offers quiet and comfortable rooms at excellent pricing. Value for money (breakfast is included) is outstanding and staff are very eager to assist at all times. Luggage storage is also a given, plus safe deposit boxes for valuables.

I have no hesitation to fully recommend this hotel for stays in Cusco.

I stayed here as a solo female traveler. The owners/workers were friendly and welcomed me warmly. Upon arrival I was offered a cup of Coca Tea (supposed to help with the altitude).

My room had 3 beds, which was odd, but I think they must all be like that. Actually it was REALLY nice because the nights got cold so I took the blankets off of the other beds to use! I had a private bath, which was nice.

Breakfast is inlcuded - bread and jelly, eggs, and coca tea. All was delicious.

Hostel has free internet for guests, which was really fantastic. THey just ask that you limit yourself to 10 minutes.

Location is SLIGHTLY off of the main drag. Uphill walk maybe 5-7 minutes from the main plaza. I did not feel unsafe but I was very aware of my surroundings and never had even the remotest problem.
