“Best choice we could have made”

Excellent choice for who want to relax and enjoy Cusco without worrying about anything. I stayed in Recoleta with my girlfriend and we found the people in the hostel very welcoming and trustful. We went to Salkantay Trek and left our backpacks in the Hostel safely. Breakfast is great and the laundry service is exceptional. After the Trek, we arrived in the Hostel at 2am and again we were very well received with all attention we could expect from a serious hostel who respect its clients.

Cusco is expensive, so this place was all-things-considered pretty great value (for backpackers). Not too far out of the main area, which was nice anyway, we arrived quite late after a loooong day travelling from Copacabana, Bolivia, and were met by a friendly lady who took some time to give us the lowdown and a map with bits and pieces of helpful information. Facilities were well appointed - a private bathroom across the hall was a little odd, but fine, a couple of nice common areas with TV, DVDs, couches, etc - breakfast was too. All in all, a nice, quiet place to rest our heads and chill out. Wifi was good, downstairs. And they happily stored our baggage for the five days we were away on tour. Nice. We just wish we had had more time to spend in Cusco, soaking up the 'living museum' that it is. Lovely place.

We arrived at about 6.30am. The first impression was terrible as we were welcomed by a very rude man that walked us in the living room, asked some questions about our reservation while scratching his crotch and left us waiting for 30 minutes until a very nice woman came providing the details we were in need of and offering us a cup of coca tea. Anyway the hostel is really beautiful, huge, well decorated but a bit far from the center. Average breakfast included, small kitchen, lack of atmosphere. If you are looking for a extremely quiet place this is the right place for you but go elsewhere should you be looking for some atmosphere.

What a little gem!! We got to this "hostel" by reading great reviews from other travelers... I wouldn't even call it a hostel... its more like a B & B.
As you walk in, you feel at home. The whole place is super nicely decorated and has a very warm feeling to it.
The owner, Javier, is always greeting you with a smile and is eager to help you with anything you might need.
The rooms are spacious with comfy beds and thick blankets.. a big plus for the cold in Cusco! I really loved the fact that the bathrooms are outside the room (private for each room) so you still feel like you have privacy when sharing a room and the rooms and bathrooms are cleaned daily (something rare in the hostel world)!
It has a super cute breakfast/ dinning area and an available kitchen. It even has a little terrace for hang outs!
Its not a party hostel at all... more on the very chill side and more inclined to laid back travelers, couples and families.
Its located in a more residential area, making everything around it very affordable and pretty quiet. It has an amazing organic market 2 blocks away!! Fantastic for the food shopper and such a delicious trip!
I highly recommend Recoleta... great value for your money!

1. Comfy beds and good pillows, plenty of blankets
2. Kind and helpful staff (English and Spanish speaking) who are actually honest and good people.
3. Impeccably clean rooms, bathrooms, and kitchen. They empty trash and make beds every day!
4. Most of the bathrooms are outside ofthe room (but private for each room), so if you are sharing a room with friends or doem, the bathroom is more private feeling.
5. Location! It is 10 minutes walking to city center. There are 2 excellent lunch places on the block, for 8 soles you eat a glorious meal. The hostel is also 2 blocks from an organic market with amazing fruits and veggies!
6. The building itself.... has been in the family for 3 generations, andis a big converted house. So there´s these little nook and cranny rooms that make perfect reading or dvd watching spots. It is decorated nicely and colorful. It feels like staying in a home, not a hostel.
7. Organization. For checking in and out, the bill is always accurate, explained, and reservations were never messed up. They remembered our names, laundry, room numbers, return times and dates, etc. Luggage storage had cards with your name on it and is very secure.
8. The other guests. It´s not a party hostel, and instead the guests seem to be a mix of late 20´s and older adult guests who are visiting formore cultural or volunteer purposes, rather than partying. Personally is my preference, and found the other guests to be very nice.
9. The Wifi is reliable and pretty fast. If you get close to the router, you can skype with video. In the rooms is at least good enough for emailing and facebook.
10. Finally...The beers are the same prices as the tiendas, and kept cold! That is a rarity in my experience haha

I hope you can enjoy this place like I have. Very good value!

Room Tip: We stayed in both triple rooms and they were both nice but #7 is my favorite because it has Machu Pi...

Greeted by a very friendly and accommodating man (the owner I think). We didn't have a booking but luckily they had space for a couple of nights. Our room was very clean and bright with comfy beds and big thick blankets. We had our own bathroom which was also very clean and modern with hot water. The wifi was very good and the breakfast was good (the standard Peruvian style of bread, jams and tea or coffee.) On some days they also cook you eggs of any style you want. It was very quiet at night and didn't hear any city noises.

The only two slight negatives were that they were fully booked after 2 nights so we had to leave :( was sad to go! And it is a bit of a walk to the town centre but if you like walking then it's hardly a negative!
