1. Comfy beds and good pillows, plenty of blankets
2. Kind and helpful staff (English and Spanish speaking) who are actually honest and good people.
3. Impeccably clean rooms, bathrooms, and kitchen. They empty trash and make beds every day!
4. Most of the bathrooms are outside ofthe room (but private for each room), so if you are sharing a room with friends or doem, the bathroom is more private feeling.
5. Location! It is 10 minutes walking to city center. There are 2 excellent lunch places on the block, for 8 soles you eat a glorious meal. The hostel is also 2 blocks from an organic market with amazing fruits and veggies!
6. The building itself.... has been in the family for 3 generations, andis a big converted house. So there´s these little nook and cranny rooms that make perfect reading or dvd watching spots. It is decorated nicely and colorful. It feels like staying in a home, not a hostel.
7. Organization. For checking in and out, the bill is always accurate, explained, and reservations were never messed up. They remembered our names, laundry, room numbers, return times and dates, etc. Luggage storage had cards with your name on it and is very secure.
8. The other guests. It´s not a party hostel, and instead the guests seem to be a mix of late 20´s and older adult guests who are visiting formore cultural or volunteer purposes, rather than partying. Personally is my preference, and found the other guests to be very nice.
9. The Wifi is reliable and pretty fast. If you get close to the router, you can skype with video. In the rooms is at least good enough for emailing and facebook.
10. Finally...The beers are the same prices as the tiendas, and kept cold! That is a rarity in my experience haha

I hope you can enjoy this place like I have. Very good value!

Room Tip: We stayed in both triple rooms and they were both nice but #7 is my favorite because it has Machu Pi...

Greeted by a very friendly and accommodating man (the owner I think). We didn't have a booking but luckily they had space for a couple of nights. Our room was very clean and bright with comfy beds and big thick blankets. We had our own bathroom which was also very clean and modern with hot water. The wifi was very good and the breakfast was good (the standard Peruvian style of bread, jams and tea or coffee.) On some days they also cook you eggs of any style you want. It was very quiet at night and didn't hear any city noises.

The only two slight negatives were that they were fully booked after 2 nights so we had to leave :( was sad to go! And it is a bit of a walk to the town centre but if you like walking then it's hardly a negative!

Great staff, especially Kathy & the boss Javier. As i didnt speak any Spanish, i liked the fact that if i had any problems, i could just go downstairs & they were eager to help. The Hostel was secure, you had a key to the main door & one to your room, with a decent lock, not always standard in Peru hostels.Room was basic but warm, plenty of blankets on the bed.Hot water any time of the day for the showers.Nice little restaurant acrooss the road with a cheap/nice meal on 2 "menu of the day"
Stayed a total for seven nights at Recoleta between trips, stored baggage, which was safe & secure. Also it was cheap accommodation !

I highly recommend this hostel. I stayed here for two nights before my Salkantay trek and one night after. I had a single room, which was cosy, but perfect for me. The price - performance ratio is great. You don't pay much, you've Wifi even within your room, you get a lovely breakfast, you've spacey bathrooms with hot showers 24h a day.

During my Salkantay trek I left my luggage in the hostel and on the night I came back they put it in my room already. Aren't these details we are all looking for? I found it really nice.

One thing I have to add, the hostel is not directly in the city centre of Cusco. However, it's only 10min walk away and I found it okay. On the way are some nice restaurants btw.

I've stayed in hostels throughout Central America, South America and Asia and found this to be one of the best. If you are going for a party hostel, this is not for you. We had just hiked the Inca Trail and it was nice to come back to and just relax. It is about a 10 minute walk to the main plaza which was fine with me as I like to walk and explore the city. The owner, Javier, was very friendly and helpful. The beds were comfortable and the showers were hot. A simple breakfast consisting of rolls and one other item was offered everyday until 10 AM. Some days it is bananas, others juice and one day a pancake.

Not really a hostel to be honest as I had expected, mostly quiet people who wanted to keep to themselves, no party atmosphere at all. On one night about 10pm we didn't feel like going out so decided to watch Boondock Saints from their extensive DVD collection. We were immediately asked to turn it down by a guest so we happily moved to a different tv room, where we played it so quietly we could hardly hear it and someone else promptly came out and asked us to turn it down. Decided not to bother with a movie at that point.
On the other hand the breakfast is nice, bread and jam, and the staff are very kind and helpful. About 15mins easy walk to main centre, nice comfortable clean rooms.
