A great place to stay to explore Cusco. A little out of the central town, but only a 10 minute walk to the main square. Small shops and a great restaurant opposite. The staff are very friendly and helpful and speak English. They can arrange airport pick ups easily. The rooms are clean and comfortable and breakfast is basic, but with great coffee.

Room Tip: All rooms are great, but some have windows to the inside courtyard, others to the street.

This hostel is converted from a family home. It has nice, clean rooms and hot water. There is also a TV in most of the rooms. The people in the manager's room are very nice and helpful. They offer laundry service, help store your bags for an extended time, internet access, breakfast, and have water/beer for purchase. A small drawback is that noise isolation is not the best so you do hear a lot of noise in the mornings when people are getting ready to leave.

The location is decent with about a 10-15 minute walk to the Plaza de Armas. I would definitely recommend this to friends travelling on a budget (great value!).

This was the first hostel I have stayed in when my friends and I decided to do the Inca Trail this September. Not only were the facilities clean but the staff were overwhelmingly helpful and there was no request that they could not handle or manage. From recommending places to go or to recommending pharmacies if you are feeling sick... they handle everything on site. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a place to stay prior or after their trip to Macchu Picchu. This place gets high marks in my book.

Javier and his staff are extremely helpful and friendly people. This hostel is very clean, and provides hot water for showers, which I understand is not always the case in Cuzco hostels. They provided computer for internet access. Nice warm wool blankets!

It was my 3rd time in South America and I must admit that Recoleta is the most charming place not just in Cusco, but the whole Peru. It's just 10 minutes walk from the main square, stuff is incredible and they will help you if you are ill, if you need bus, trekking tour, or any kind of information. Interior is beautiful, very carefully arranged with small garden, terrace, table tennis, a lot of books and dvd-s....
If you are looking for nice, quiet and friendly place to stay, Recoleta is the best option.

Javier and his staff are simply incredible. The helpful and friendly staff alone, is worth it to come and stay here. During our stay in Peru, we were stranded in Cusco because of the Puno strikes. The staff went above and beyond to help us with the situation whether it was translating, finding us a room or helping us get in contact with the bus company or the tour group in Puno. Hospedaje Turistico Recoleta soon became our home away from home. This isn't your college crowd type of hostel where they cram a bunch of people in bunk beds. Each person actually gets their own clean, bed. Definitely it didn't feel like hostel but more of a 2 star hotel.

Accommodations: While Cusco can be cold at night, most of the rooms upstairs are adequately warmed. The rooms downstairs with the private bathrooms can be a bit chillier and at times, the private bathrooms can run out of hot water. But this was never a problem when we shared a bathroom with other rooms upstairs. They adequately give you enough alpaca blankets to keep you warm though even in the down stairs rooms.

Services: Serves breakfast with tea, bread, and pancakes. Includes outside patio for just hanging out as well as a sun roof section for breakfast that you can hang out during the afternoon if you want to read a book. Also there is a living room with a foosball table, tv for DVD's, and a garden outside. Has one computer with internet access. My only gripe is that some lady was on the computer for 2hrs uploading her pics slowly on face book when we really needed it. My only suggestion is that they put up a sign to limit use of 30 minutes if there are people waiting for the computer. But they do put a disclaimer saying there are multiple internet cafes around the corner, which there are. They also can arrange pick up from the airport for a small fee. They also have water and beer for purchase and will store your bags for free if you are hiking up the Inca trail in a locked up room.

Location: 10-15 min walking into Plaza de Armas, San Blas, and central Cusco. Taxis are very easily accessible if you don't want to walk for about 3-5 soles. Quiet and fairly safe neighborhood. There's also a couple of restaurants nearby like Don Mateo across the street, which serves a mean cuy and lechon.

Conclusion: This is really a charming guesthouse and I paid only $10 pp a night. Don't expect a Hilton hotel but if you want a clean place, with hot water, great staff (I can't emphasize that enough), very afforable, and all the essentials for lodgings, then I highly recommend this place.
