“There are better cheaper restaurants off the plaza.”

Visited Llicllas last night for drinks and had a good time. It sits on a terrace overlooking the main plaza in Arequipa. This is its only redeeming feature.

Returned today for lunch. On reading the menu it quickly became evident that it is overpriced, because its on the plaza. We ordered food anyway.

My club sandwich was described as containing steak. The meat was very chewy and I removed it to eat two of my sandwiches. Someone else ordered chicken soup. This came with a leg of chicken, which was described by the eater a "old broiler". The fluid was eaten and the rest left.

Despite there being several "Visa" and"Master Cards" stickers in the restaurant when we went to pay the owner / manager was very reluctant to accept a credit card, citing that he had to pay 5% extra to the bank. Eventually we paid in cash.

Within five hours two of us had "dodgy" tummies!

Staff are friendly and the location has has great view of the plaza.

When I walked along the plaza, this guy came out and showed me the pictures of food. I was actually going to another place, but he did not stop so I asked if the food looks like on the pictures. He said yes so I walked up. First thing to know: the pictures are copied from somewhere. Ok I ordered the daily menu cause he suggested it. I got a mushroom soup, which was very very hot but tasted somehow good. After 3-4 minutes the waitress brought the second dish, which was chicken steak. The steak was very thin, so I thought, before it will be cold, I eat the soup later. The chicken was almost cold already, and it was like leather. Probably turned over multiple times... Served with french fries (which were not cross) and very cold vegetables. But no sauce... Well I ate a bit and wanted to continue with the soup. It became very thick. Looked disgusting and I paid and went away - to the other place I wanted to go - with perfect chicken steak and vegetables...
You should not try to invite people, if you cannot cook!

This is one of the many cafes that are situated on the balcony around the main square in Arequipa where the Cathedral is. We went here because the girl was so smiley and was waving at us when we looked up. The girls stand on the ground floor and try to attract your attention to go up to their cafe. It is well worth it because the views are excellent of the volcano, cathedral and life passing below you around the square. We were made to feel welcome but once there we were left without a hard sell to get us to buy more that the beers that we had gone up for.
