The place is nice to take photos but the food is terrible. It has nothing to do with traditional arequipenian food. For example, soltero de queso looks like a tasteless salad, even a simple pollo a la plancha doesn't have even a decent quantity of salt and pepper. The only good thing I found was queso helado. And the prices are extremely high for this poor quality food. With these prices just go to Tanta (among other options) and eat good quality food!

Tipika is a great restaurant for traditional Arequipa dishes. I had the Cuy which is guinea pig. Taste was Great. 1st time tryng Cuy, it was real good. Also had chicharron taste was amazing. I recommend this place, a must go to spot when visiting Arequipa. The restaurant was really nice and clean. The server was nice. Will definetly return.

The are a lot of picanterias in Arequipa. Tipika is a little bit outside of the center, 10 min to walk from the plaza de armas. Maybe that's the reason why it is so great! We had Chupe de campeones (60 soles) and Rocotto Releno (25 soles) both were great! One of the best meals in Peru!

The best Arequipa's typical food restaurant. It is located in Vallecito, not far from downtown. The lechon (piglet) is outstanding as well as the queso helado dessert.

Our hotel recommended this restaurant for delicious typical pork. So glad she did but be forewarned: It is only open noon to five each day.
It is a huge place with fun decorations, a large, varied menu, nice staff, incredibly clean AND Good Food!
After pork ribs, potatoes and onion salad with pisco sours we had to order the buñuelos for dessert. They are tasty fried dough covered in sugar syrup, sweet and yummy!
Total bill for the two of us 101 soles, worth every penney.
It is maybe a 20 minute walk from the plaza in the opposite direction of most of the tourist restaurants. GO!
