The place is beautiful and the food is nothing short of its more famous counterparts, Chicha etc... Went for lunch during the week and they had a great lunch menu.

The restaurant is gorgeous inside and out. Very good service, the waitress spoke English. We were given a complementary pisco sour and a potato dish - although they did charge us PEN 5 extra when we asked for additional sauce, which we thought was a bit naughty, especially as they didn't mention this in advance - it was just added to the bill. We only had an entrée - the Turkish meze plate, an assortment of beautifully grilled vegetables, hummus, cheese and baba ganoush which was beautifully presented and more than enough for lunch. Very expensive - PEN 39 for a starter, but worth it for a treat.

Decor is nice. Can't sing praises of the food or service.

Ordered the exotica salad. Beautiful presentation but ingredients didn't match menu. The dried fruits were missing. Crawfish should have been cooked more. Octopus tentacles were cooked well.

The sea bass in clay pot was bland - no flavor and no sign of the yellow peppers.

Service was spotty. For the price, it was not worth it. Wouldn't recommend this place. They are trying to be a "fusion" restaurant but have some work to do.

We visited Paladar on our last night in Arequipa and enjoyed the food but weren't blown away by it. Not sure if the chef was having an off day as it seems we had the same food as reviewed a couple of days ago. The beef I had was well cooked but the sauce lacked flavour. My wife had the duck which was mostly fat although the risotto was very good. We then had a bit of confusion with the waiter over a dessert order where we ordered the chocolate fondant although he tried to recommend an alternative. We thought we'd still ordered but when it hadn't come some time later, we asked again and he said "no tenemos" which we did understand so not sure what we heard before... probably our fault for our basic spanish! Having said all of the above the setting was great, the pisco drink and potato appetiser were an unexpected bonus and food was good so would still recommend a visit!
