Arequipa has some charm to it and you can spend some time here wandering aroung the city centre.
We arrived and departed by bus and the bus station is not far from the main attractions.
The place is busy with many tourist and locals mixing on the streets. The main plaza is especially crowded. You can see some old buildings in the nearby streets, but for me the highlight was Santa Catalina monastery. We spent there a few hours and it feels like a different city - so quiet and peaceful. The colors of the walls are magical and great for taking pictures.
Important tip: check the opening hours of churches and other buildings before you visit!

Arequipa is a nice city with lots of good food and very nice locals. The Plaza de Armas and it's surroundings are nothing out of the ordinary, neither is Arequipa. Only the Santa Catalina Convent makes it wothwhile.

Charming area with neat little hole in the wall restaurants and attractions. Great plazas open for people watching against a mountainous background provides some great photo opportunities. Traffic can be a bit nuts even while crossing at pedestrian crossings - best to avoid these all together and cross in the middle of a block where you only have to worry about traffic in two directions.

it is the nicest city in Arequipa, with the mix of a modern city and a city of XVIII centtury, with nice small strets and constructios with the white stone typical of Arequipa
