Did a market trip first, then cooked the food later. They could use more cooking space, as it took a while for all 8 of us to use one gas range. Beautiful outdoor kitchen though, with time in-between to eat dishes and socialize with the group.

I totally recommend this experience while in Arequipa. The value was great because you basically get two meal and the cooking lesson for what you'd pay for one decent dinner out (45/sols or about $15USD.) The food was delicious and fun to learn to make. The courtyard was beautiful and it's a lovely outdoor (covered) cooking area.

We did not do the market tour, but the cooking and pisco sour making classes were excellent. Also a lovely hotel to stay in.

We loved this experience. We chose the ceviche and fried fish menu. The food was all fresh and the cooking instruction was great. It takes place in a charming garden setting in the hostel. We visited the market ahead of time which really helped round out the experience for us. The only thing to be aware of is that the class is very long (around 3 hours) so prepare accordingly. You will NOT leave hungry though!

Friendly, hard-working and personable staff. And lots of fun! It started with a very informative tour of the marketplace, and then we got down to cooking with "Lady" - who also showed us how to make Pisco Sours, as a bonus.
