“Do not miss Cafe y Vino !”
Reviewed April 15, 2011

A little bit hard to find ( 2 minutes walking from the Place de Armas), but do not miss this restaurant. The restaurant is on the 2nd floor of a colonial building, the view is great and the staff is very welcoming. The owner is making is own aromatic pisco and you have to try the rasberry pisco.
The tapas and the proscuitto are delicious !

Aux amateurs de bon vin pas cher, a ne pas manquer !

“Real nice cafe in a superb location”
Reviewed April 11, 2011

You really do want to stop here if you are in Arequipa. It is a stunning location on a balcony overlooking a cloistered courtyard which has a fountain in the centre.

I think that the owner is French, and their selection of French wines (Cafe and Vino, get it?). They sell a selection of wines by the glass, and have a menu. I would go with the reviewer who said that the staff were friendly and the drinks reasonably priced.

I might add I had no problems with the coffee. It really is a great place to sit and relax

“Terrible icecoffee”
Reviewed November 9, 2010

We had no food, so can not give opinion on that. We just a a icecoffee. It was lukewarm, very sweet and the cream was lumpy. The girl clearly did not know how to prepare it. We paid and walked away. The location is terrific, just do not order coffee. A friend tried it out later and she had the same experience.

Fantastic little bar with outside seating overlooking a beautiful courtyard which is an oasis of calm, just away from the main square. Free wifi, very friendly staff and great drinks which are reasonably priced!

“Perfect location, perfectly hospitable proprietor, great fare.”
Reviewed June 4, 2010

Cafe y Vino was a favorite place to study when we were in the city. It's the kind of place where you can sit at a table for hours. The owner is fun to talk with, and between three languages we understood each other fairly well. He's known to light candles to brighten dark corners when the sun goes down. The coffee is great, so is the coca tea with honey, and they stock an international wine selection. I loved the nutella crepes-- for snack, dinner, or deessert! But most amazing was a ham sandwich (sounds plain, but not at all!) on homemade bread. Perfectly salty, warm, with a little cheese.... It was such a find in this city.

The cafe is upstairs at the cloisters of a church just off the Plaza de Armas. The colonial architecture, built out of Arequipa's signature white 'sillar' volcanic stone, is breathtaking, especially at night. Very romantic!
