“Very clean hotel in excellent location, very good staff service too!”
Reviewed February 11, 2013 via mobile

Stayed here for 1 night and joined a 1-day tour to colca canyon through the hotel. Though this tour requires really early (2:30am) pick-up as it's a one-day tour, the hotel thoughtfully prepared a snacks bag (with fruit juice) for us. Other tourists who boarded the bus from other hotels didn't have a snacks bag. Hotel staff also very kind to allow us to move our breakfast (included in our hotel room package rate) one day in advance as we arrived the hotel early on day 1 and we won't have time to have breakfast the next morning due to our 1-day tour. Hotel staff is very thoughtful and accommodating. Highly recommend to those who want to spend 1-2 nights in Arequipa main plaza area.

My husband and I chose to stay at Los Tambos after reading many great reviews on TripAdvisor. Our primary reason for visiting the area was to trek the Colca Canyon with Carlitos Tours (we highly recommend this locally owned tour company!!). After a fantastic stay at Tierra Viva Cusco Plaza (see my review), I wasn't sure another hotel could compete. Fortunately, Los Tambos surpassed my expectations and was the highlight of our stay in bustling Arequipa. The hotel is ideally located in the heart of the city, only one block from the Plaza de Armas.

We stayed just two days, one on either side of our CC trip. The hotel arranged and paid for both of our airport transfers, a nice gesture when arriving to a new city with no idea where to go! The staff were very friendly and helpful before and during our stay. Because we had an early departure for the canyon and would miss breakfast (included), the hotel packed us some sandwiches and snacks to take on our journey instead - so sweet! When we returned, our bags were already waiting in our new room. Fortunately we were able to enjoy a delicious made-to-order breakfast after our second night :)

The rooms were tastefully decorated, with comfy beds, flatscreen TV, wi-fi, and a spacious bathroom. Soap, shampoo, tissues, towelettes, sunscreen, and a grooming kit were provided... little comforts to make you feel at home :) Coffee and tea were available in the lobby, as well as a computer with fast internet access and an outdoor seating area. Don't miss the 5th floor patio and stairs up to the rooftop observation deck! My only complaint is that the room was slightly noisy - no fault of the hotel, but be aware that Arequipa is a bit loud at night. We felt this hotel offered a great value for the price we paid, with so many perks and wonderful service.

A special thank you to the hotel's general manager, Thomas, who was incredibly welcoming and accommodating. He generously let us stay in our room beyond check-out time since we had a late flight. A perfect end to our fantastic trip to Peru!

We had a wonderful experience at Los Tambos. I rate the hotel highly not because of the amazing rooms, but because of the wonderful service, location and breakfasts. The staff was very helpful and helped set up our trip to Colca Canyon. The hotel is located 1 block from the main square and is walking distance to many of the best restaurants in town. A bountiful breakfast is included every morning.

The rooms are small, but clean. If you get a king bed, there is not much room to put your luggage in the room. The double bed is too small for 2 people, but you'll have more floor space. We switched from the double room to the King on the 2nd night (we preferred the bigger bed)!

Very very nice hotel! It is located in the center of Arequipa very close to Plaza de Armas, so all you need (I mean for tourists) is very near or in a walking distance.
We had an excellent light room with wide windows, clean bathroom (which was appreciated afer long trip in a bus from Colca Canyon) with white towels, a delicious breakfast with several choices and friendly staff in the hotel. Also at arriving we were kindly greeted by hotel manager personally, that was a little bit surprising and pleasent.

Room Tip: Our room has noise protection windows and after 22.00 PM it was quite silent in outside, so choose a...

This hotel went above and beyond for us and we were so impressed with the level of service and helpfulness of staff during our stay.
We had been backpacking around South America for a few months and decided to 'splurge' on a nice hotel over Christmas. First of all we got a wicked deal, paying 3 nights for 4 in a special promotion they were doing. Honestly, for that level of service in Sydney, Australia you would be paying hundreds of dollars a night.
We had the king bed room on the 5th floor. It was the only room on that floor so it was very quiet. We were also the only ones to use the roof top veranda, reading on the comfy chairs and soaking up the sun.
Every morning for breakfast you got to choose a la carte and there was everything from apple crepes to omelettes to classic peruvian breakfasts. On Christmas they put on a special breakfast that was absolutely delicious.
What really made our stay though was on Christmas Eve when the staff said we could set off fireworks on the roof top and invite our friends over to join!!
The staff were always on top of things, booking us dinner reservations and even booking our next hotel over the phone when we couldnt communicate with the staff in Spanish.
We do not have enough great things to stay about this place!! You must stay here when you go to Arequipa.

Los Tambos located in the heart of Arequipa had a nice cozy modern room with a very hospitable staff. A warm welcome with some coca tea followed by useful information on surrounding attractions was nice. Miguel also escorted us to our room and set up our luggage. Similarly on the way out, we had help getting our luggage to the car. We got homely help in a Spanish speaking Miguel who made calls on our behalf to the massage place. I would highly recommend for any tourist seeking a comfortable place.

I would do injustice if do not mention the awesome kitchen and the amazing chef who gave us nothing short of the best breakfast on our entire Peru trip. Try out their fresh fruit juice made in front of you!

Although the rooms ( at least the less expensive ones) are small and simple, they are tasteful and clean. The bathroom is stocked with little extras and there is always a free bottle of water waiting for you when you get back from the day. The staff is friendly and helpful and the cozy fire in the lobby with fresh coca tea in the evening was a lovely touch. The breakfests were tasty and they didnt charge me for a second coffee in the morning. Laundry was also reasonable. This place epitomizes what makes a good hotel for me: they dont waste money on extravagence and then rip you off whenever possible but instead focus on making the place tasteful, clean, and treat the staff well enough that they want to treat the guests nicely as well.
