Zig zag was booked out (was there the night before) so tried zingaro. Very impressed. Both of us has a different beef steak and was both were an excellent cut of meat. Unfortunately both our main courses were pretty cold but there was no problem getting them re-heated and we were adequately compensated. Would be a tough call whether would go here or zig zag if staying another night. I'd certainly recommend it and would have had no hesitation giving it 5 stars if the mains weren't cold but these things happen every now and again

We were recommend this restaurant by our hotel, Los Tambos. It was an absolutely delicious meal and wine, lovely ambience and delightful staff - highly recommend

Pleasant enough though full of tourists. Food was OK as was wine as was service. Perhaps slightly expensive compared to some. Nothing particularly bad, or particularly good sadly. Wouldn't return without trying other places first, although would be a safe choice if you're new in town and tired after a day's travelling.

The place has a nice atmosphere and a good service, which is almost a novelty in South America. We were celebrating a special occasion and wanted a local that was a bit in the upscale side. After wandering a little and checking several displayed menus we went for it considering the fact that we were having dinner early and there was a reasonable number of people already in the restaurant.

There is a large wine list and in our opinion a quite large menu, probably to large!
Having said that, it is our contention that the food only scored average.

We had a onion soup as a starter and for main courses shrimp chowder risotto and filled squid with shrimps.

The presentation of the dishes was very good. The soup was in its way to get very good, but stopped a little before, it was a little poor when it came to taste.

The shrimp chowder risotto was taste less, it was difficult to differentiate rice, from corn, from potatoes and scrimps, and the risotto consistence was so there... The portion was overwhelmingly large. Eating the dish becomes even more problematic because of the cheese portion on it.

The filled squid with shrimps was nicely presented and the potion was fine. The potato, onion and cheese side dish was not fresh and the potatoes were extremely dry. The sauce was pretty much taste less despite of the great ingredients used.

First off, i'm wondering if I ate at the same restaurant that everyone has reviewed. In a town of so much wonderful food this restaurant is at the bottom of the pack for quality and price. For those people with a palate who prefer quality over mountains of food - RUN AWAY!!

Now the food. Our bread was stale and tasted at least a day old.

The drinks aren't even worth mentioning.

Calamari appetizer was soggy and tasted of being cooked in old dirty oil.

We ordered a Chupe de Camarones(Prawn soup). Arequipa prawns are the best in Peru. The soup was bland and filled with potatoes. The beautiful prawns were tortured into submission and forced to inhabit this disgrace of a Chupe. Go to Chicha a block away and pay $4 extra for the same but AMAZING dish.

Second, we ordered the fish with 5 sauces which was highly recommended by the waiter. Mind you the fish was Paiche, a wonderful river fish that just melts in your mouth when treated with the respect it deserves. This graceful fish arrived drowning in globs of an indistinguishable purple sauce that overflowed like lava on the plate. I could literally hear the fish screaming in disdain.

I nearly wept in anger from the utter disrespect this locale has for the ingredients it sources.

No desert as we couldn't withstand seeing anymore food tortured.
