Once in your life you should spend a week in this beautiful hotel. The level of service and comfort is beyond compare. The lovely owner took the time to share with us the creativity that went into the conversion of this colonial home into a spectacular hotel. It felt as though we were visiting the home of a colonial Spanish mansion. The staff could not do enough for you and always had a smile. Just Great!

Mansion Alcazar really took my breath way, the place is beaituful, romantic and one of a kind. Isabel Moreno was very friendly, and she is an expert in Cuenca. We traveled as a family and we felt very well received. I would recommend this place to anyone traveling to Cuenca. Lovelly hotel. Maria Luisa Carter

A lovely old-world hotel in a superbly central location in a beautiful town. The food is excellent - worth going here to eat even if you're not a guest. The muzak irritated, but was turned off when I complained and what more can you ask?! All the staff were fantastic. My wife wasn't well and the kitchen made her a hot lemon drink - their idea. We'd definately return.

This is a marvelous place to stay in Cuenca. The building and garden are very beautiful and comfortable, and it's only a few blocks walking distance to the center of the city. The hotel is sumptuously decorated with Latin American antiques and crafts. The staff were very helpful on all accounts. A nice respite from the somewhat tiring street life. Some of the rooms are rather small, though quite comfortable.

Cuenca is a nice city and a must-see when in Ecuador.

The Mansion Alcazar exudes a pleasant old-world charm with lots of attention to detail. We stayed there for two nights on a trip through Ecuador and the Galapagos.

The rooms are nicely furnished. We stayed in a room on the ground floor with the door leading to the atrium. Actually this was very pleasant because the atrium is a beautiful place to relax, with a fountain in the middle.

The garden is a peaceful oasis, reminding of a Venetian palazzo. Standing or sitting in the garden you wouldn't know that you are in the centre of a city.

Food is excellent. On one evening we were the only guests dining in the hotel so we had the staff to ourselves.

We stayed at the Mansion Alcazar for 3 nights and from the time we stepped out of the taxi we were treated very well. Our room was on the ground floor opposite the restaurant. It was a large room with a garden view but was quite dark due to the heavy furnishings. The bathroom was in need of a refurb but still clean. The staff were very attentive but a little too subservient for us.
The breakfast was very disappointing and it didn't seem to matter what time you arived there wasn't much choice. The fruit, cheese and meats were not replenished and nothing looked exciting. You can order eggs from the waiter. However, you will not be disappointed if you eat in the restaurant in the evening - the food is very good.
If I stayed again I would ask for a room on the 1st floor as we were woken each morning by what seemed like a herd of elephants moving furniture from the room above.

The hotel is in a very good location and you can walk everywhere.

The Mansion Alcazar was more than I expected. The minute you walk through the front door the friendly staff greets you and makes you feel that you're in your own home. We stayed in the Sirena Suite which we found spacious yet intimate. Coincidentally the fabric they used on the wingback chair in the room was the same that I have on mine at home. The lobby was elegantly decorated and a relaxing spot to enjoy tea or coffee after a day of touring.

I asked my husband if he could buy me the hotel so I could enjoy it all the time. Oh well reality set in and I guess I'll have to return to the Mansion Alcazar to enjoy all it has to offer.
