We stayed across the street at one of the TripAdvisor recommended vacation rentals. The owner encouraged us to try La Tasca and we are sure glad we did. Mamma cooks and the two sons wait on tables so this is a family run restaurant. We had several tapas plates along with the house white wine. Every dish was delicious and presented nicely (food should not only taste great but also look nice on the plate). You could taste the care in the cooking. This family is from Spain and the cooking is authentic, much different than Ecuadorian cooking although we enjoy both.
The brother who waited on us spoke English and was a delight to engage in a discussion on their family background. This just added to the experience. As an added bonus, we both feasted on excellent food and the bill was extremely reasonable. When in Cuenca, this restaurant is a must visit and is in a great location.
