Just a 5 minutes walk away from the central bus station 'Casa de las Rosas' is a peacful haven after sightseeing and shopping in Cuenca. Lucia the owner comes originally from Italy and you can see that in every little beautiful detail of the hotel. Everything fits perfectly together and charms you as soon as you enter the hotel. The bathrooms are big and offer space for two persons with two sinks. In every room you find fresh flowers and the lobby smells after wonderful incense sticks. Breakfast is freshly prepared for every guest and offers a variety of everything you need including Nutella. If you feel cold you will get-hot water bottles to warm you up. During the day you can have a rest with coffee/tea and a cake at any time in a sitting-room close to the entrance. It was the nicest hotel we had during our 3 weeks in Ecuador and we were sad to leave. Thanks a lot to the whole team in the hotel for making our stay such a pleasure!

Room Tip: Rooms facing the garden are quieter.

We spent three nights at the hotel. We got the room Esmeralda which is perfect for a couple.
Lucia and her team were from the beginning very friendly, helpful and always intended to make the stay comfortable and nice.
The room was very clean and comfortable. The bathroom -also very clean - was even big enough for two people to be in at the same time.
Breakfast was delicious and freshly prepared!

It was the best hotel we had during our 25 days stay in Ecuador!
We just can warmly recommend it!

As one of two couples traveling together, we stayed in the Tejado (roof top) suite and the Amarillo (yellow) room. From our early arrival onward, Luciana and her staff warmly welcomed us and treated us as family. They provided bountiful breakfasts, quick and inexpensive laundry service, hot water bottles in the evening, honest and helpful restaurant suggestions, and even made a hard to secure reservation at one of Cuenca's top restaurants. The decor is colorful and chic, both in rooms and common areas. The artwork is local. Fresh cut roses add a nice touch. Location at the edge of old town provides an opportunity to take various routes to the city center, passing markets, shopping, and other attractions. The shower was great with luxury soap and shampoo. Bottom line--the best hotel we had in our three week stay in Ecuador.

Room Tip: Tejado suite is expansive with a full kitchen, extra bathroom and extra single bedroom, plus a roof...

We loved our stay in la Casa de las Rosas, the owner Lucia (Italian), is a very warm hostess. The house has been nicely adapted and decorated, she has an excellent taste. It has several resting/reading areas, very comfortable and bright. Is a place that can make you feel like home.
The buffet breakfast in the morning was nicely presented, diverse, and tasty, and served in a pleasant way. We enjoyed a lot the treats, cake, cookies, fruits, tea/coffee they have every afternoon.
Our room faced the street, so the noise started relatively early 7am, no need of alarm clock!
It had the old type of shutters, so it was peach dark when you close them.
The hotel is located about 15 min. walking from the main plaza. Cuenca's downtown is small and very colonial looking, everything is close-by. They don't have parking, they have an agreement to park in a close-by garage, the rate is not included in the stay is about $5/day.

Room Tip: The hotel doesn't have elevator, if you have problem with stairs try to get the room on the lowe...

My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights. It is a small boutique hotel with a B+B atmosphere. I believe there are only 12 rooms. It has a small sitting room that serves as a lobby where tea and fruit are available all day. The room we stayed in was of comfortable size, clean with a comfortable bed. it was relatively quiet though you could hear street noises outside until the about 10 at night when the traffic died down. Although there are wooden floors and stairs throughout, we did not hear the creaks that others have commented about.
The breakfasts were good (eggs, assorted breads, cheeses and juices).
The two outstanding points about this boutique are its staff and its convenience to the city center. The staff were to a person very friendly in an authentic way, and helpful with directions and reservations. The hotel is about 7 blocks from the city center (Park Calderon), about 15 minutes away, and about 20 minutes from the riverfront (Calle Larga). Cuenca is a flat city so walking about is very easy. The hotel is part of a regular neighborhood with a variety of shops. Its location enabled us to gain an insight into how Cuencans go about their daily lives.
We would stay here again were we to return to Cuenca. We highly recommend it.

We arrived here in the late evening and immediately felt very welcome (you have to ring a doorbell for entry). The service continued to be excellent throughout our stay.

The room we had was a fair size and felt very clean. The bathroom was also quite large and came with lovely shampoo and soaps. The staff delivered hot water heaters to take in your bed with you in the evening, what a sweet surprise!

The location was okay but we didn't feel particularly safe walking around late into the evening. Taxis are easy and cheap enough though so that isn't much of a concern. That being said, walking in the daytime was felt safe and was quite enjoyable. Make sure you have good directions as our taxi driver could not find the place.

Casa de las Rosas provides excellent value, quaint rooms and wonderful customer service.

I highly recommend if you are looking for something small and reasonably priced in the area.

Thanks to all the staff for such an enjoyable stay!

From the hotel we walked to the Fruit Market, the bank, the square & downtown. At night to go eat we took a taxi & it was $4 for the 4 of us, anywhere in the city. Elizabeth spoke English & was so helpful. She gave us a list of restaurants & they were all good. She also arranged a tour for us on Sunday, short notice, to Ingapirca & it was fantastic - 2 hrs away but you get to see the country with llamas, cows on the road, horses & other towns. We had excellent breakfast choices with fruit, pastry, eggs, bacon, fresh juice, milk, cereal, turkey, rolls, cheese & yogurt. Rooms were clean, had hot water for shower, 2 sinks, King size bed, TV had 4 or 5 channels in English, the wifi worked the best at night. Take a wash cloth, they are not provided, they are considered a luxury. I bought 2 down the street from a vendor for $1.50. Went to the Alpaca market about 3 times, it had the best hammocks, blankets, shawls & ponchos - I got two for $32 when I followed a seller through an alley to his shop upstairs. And nearby was a 2-story mall with jewelry, panama hats & imitation shrunken heads. Take a lot of $1 bills, the bank will not give you more than 10 at a time. They will give you $1 coins instead, which work fine. We had a wonderful time & I would stay at Casa de Las Roses again. I accidentally checked the Restaurant button but there is no restaurant.

Room Tip: Azul room with balcony was on the street side so we heard some loud vehicles a couple of nights even...
