“Great place to appreciate religious art”
Reviewed October 24, 2013

Cuenca, Ecuador is a great place to live and visit. The New Cathedral is on Parque Calderon which is a central part of El Centro, the historic center of Cuenca. The park is a great place to see all types of people and catch a double decker bus to Turi, and adventure in itself. The cathedral is huge and has many examples of religious art. People visit for worship, contemplation, and just to appreciate the grandeur.

“Three Blue Domes”
Reviewed October 20, 2013

This was the most magnificent cathedral i have ever seen. If you are Catholic this is a must for mass. It is done in Spanish, but still you are able to follow along in your heart. Amazing--there are at least five alters inside.

“Beautiful Cathedral, Iconic Domes”
Reviewed September 13, 2013

The gold main altar and pink Carrara marble floor are just two of the outstanding elements of this 19th century church. The interior is well maintained, with gorgeous art and statuary, and the exterior features the most iconic domes of the Cuenca skyline, in a beautiful blue color that stands out against the other buildings. Women outside the church sell inexpensive religious statuettes and candles, and people were buying the candles to light inside the church. No matter what your religious beliefs, it is inspiring to see so much devotion.

“Fantastic interior”
Reviewed August 28, 2013

This is one of the most beautiful Cathedrals I have ever seen. Very well taken care of. I visited this church at mass and was blown away from the beauty of the interior. It still is a couple hundred years old.
