“Great food, wine and atmosphere”
Reviewed July 8, 2013

Our new favorite restaurant in Cuenca. We could not have picked a better place for our anniversary. The décor is very European yet modern. Our table had a very intimate setting where we were surrounded by walls of fine wines. The selection of wines is the best we've seen in Cuenca. My wife had the salmon and I had a Peruvian sea food dish. We both loved our meals. The tiramisu was one of the best I've eaten. The service was professional and attentive. The waiter spoke very good English. The next time we return to Cuenca, this restaurant is first on our list. The price is a bit pricy for Cuenca, but we were very satisfied.

“Yeowwwwwwwwwwwww baby!”
Reviewed June 28, 2013

La Vinoteca is the real deal for wine lovers, sushi lovers and those that just want to eat well, very, very well.

we have been here 6 times, always early in the evening between 6:30 and 8PM.

why so early? because it's freakin 2 x 1 happy hour on sushi and sashimi!!!!!

and let me say this now: the sashimi is wonderful, perfect cuts and all sashimi grade/quality. so if you are a sushi/sashimi lover, check out the fotos: two plates full, enough to feed a small army of 2, all for about 12US.

now about the wine: they have quite the selection from all over SA; the 2008 rose from chile was sublime, subtle, well matched with my sashimi and @24US a more than fair price.

the langostinos are awesome @16US. see the foto.

if I have the time, I will upload fotos of the desserts. do not cheat yourself, ask for a combination plate of ALL the desserts for about 8US!

service is impecable, the atmosphere delightful and especially so during happy hour because there are no people in the restaurant. It feels like everyone is there to serve you!!!!

Highly recommended from a guy that has chased fine wine and food all over the world.

“A very good eating experience with great wines.”
Reviewed April 22, 2013

Elegantly done restaurant just outside the historic centre. Modern interior divided into intimate, comfortable eating spaces. Extensive wine list largely covering South American wines but with some Spanish and others. Wine prices are relatively high as in Ecuador in general. Food menu is very mixed with influences from almost everywhere! You can eat a normal 3 - course meal; a meal of more "tapas" style food; bread, cheese and ham washed down with wine; sandwiches or any combination! Food was interesting, tasty, well cooked and presented and was very well priced. Staff were helpful, friendly and efficient. Reserve (at weekends at least)

“Perhaps the most creative chef in C uenca”
Reviewed March 23, 2013

Excellent and creative food the tuna main course the best we have ever had. Nice atmosphere and very good service. great wine list and not over price for quality. This restaurant is alittle more expensive but if you want excellent and creative food you have to pay a little more.
