Great daily specials for lunch with soup, salad, main course and desert for only 6.50. Best coffee in town and a great little bar in the evening. I was in Cuenca for two weeks and found myself wandering by every few days for lunch and drinks in the evening. The staff is very good, but the owner makes this beautiful little cafe/bar.

I had the set lunch menu at dinner for $6.50. It was delicious. I guess it was good value because it included a really nice piece of cake. The food was nothing to write home about but was satisfying. I loved the atmosphere.

We stopped here for lunch as we'd read about this spot in our travel guide. The owner is German and has been in this spot for 18 years. One of only 2 bars in Cuenca at the time.

Service: The owner waited on us. We really appreciated his flawless english. The best english speaking local we met in Cuenca. He was very attentive and helpful.

Food: We had their lunch special, which was a very tasty vegetable soup, a chicken cutlet milanese and ice cream. It was all well prepared and basic. Just a squeeze of lemon on the chicken.

Value: We paid about $5 each. Yes, there are places where you can spend half that for lunch, but we appreciated the service and atmosphere.

Atmosphere: Cozy, cave like space with views of the river and new part of the city.

I would say what we liked most about this place was the service. The owner was very easy for us to communicate with and willing to share his knowledge of the area. We did not come to Cuenca prepared to speak or understand Spanish like we should have. He was very helpful in making up for that oversight.

The title says it all. The owner is very friendly and there is wifi. There is a tv wits showing the premier league. The chairs are a bit squeaky, but I think that it adds to the charm
