This hostel was a good choice especially for the location. The family who runs the hostel is very nice and accommodating. The shared bathrooms could have been a little cleaner (but I guess that has a lot to do with who you end up sharing a bathroom with). There are two well-equipped kitchens available for guest use, which is great, and several different lounge areas, as well as a do-your-own-laundry by hand areas, which is really convenient if you want to save money on laundry. The lounge areas are neat and well-kept, and have a pretty good selection of movies. The wifi is pretty fast if you use it on the top floor. The atmosphere is pretty cool too. The people who stay here, from my observations, are mostly longer-term travelers, which makes the place really laid back and also interesting. I would definitely stay here again if I'm in Cuenca and wanted to save money on accommodation.

Room Tip: The wifi works best on the top floor, so if you would like to use it in your room, I suggest staying...

We stayed here for about 3 weeks in the spring of 2011. This is a four-story family-run hostel with friendly hosts. Our room had two double beds, a nightstand, a table and two chairs. The beds were rather hard. We shared two bathrooms, cooking facilities, a dining room and a recreation room with several other guests on the floor. The hostel is located on the edge of the old Colonial area of the city and is within easy walking distance of many of the main attractions and shopping. While we were there the third floor was being renovated to provide rooms with private bathrooms. A real bargain. Rooms with shared baths were $6 per person per night while the newly renovated rooms with private baths were $10 per person per night.

Room Tip: Prenez une chambre au dernier étage, la véranda est plus sympa et vous serez au calme.
