Service and food were awesome and timely. Very clean and well lite. Brought in wine without any question or problem but small corkage fee. Definitely the better of the 2 very well known Cuenca Ecuadorian food restaurant's. Excellent value for your $. Very accommodating. Would eat there again an again

I have been to both locations and by far prefer the one on Calle Larga. There are several small and very charming dining rooms within the restaurant that create a cozy and friendly experience. The menu offers servings for 2 people, served in cast iron "disks." Offerings of meat, chicken and seafoods in wonderful decadent sauces, and the potatoes are a must have. We had 2 beef dishes, one with a creamy peppercorn sauce-fabulous and the other with a rich mushroom and wine sauce, also fabulous! Wine selection is good as well and some nice desserts. Spanish is helpful but not a must and the Manager Freddy is charming and very helpful! We ended up here on a recommendation form a local friend for a birthday dinner that will not soon be forgotten! Prices are good at $22 for each entree and you will most likely need a doggy bag! Will be going back soon! Reservations are accepted on recommended on weekends.

Service and food was really GREAT. We didn't speak Spanish well, but they were helpful, understanding. We will come back when we visit Cuenca again!

Visited this restaurant with friends. The food was nicely prepared, good flavored and reasonable prices. Service was somewhat slow but they were very friendly. We ordered the parrillada and was satisfied. I definitely will recommend. La Esquina.

Even though La Esquina had been recommended by two sets of friends, my husband and I had never been there. We decided to have a nice lunch out before leaving on a month-long visit to the U.S. Our entree choice was the beef tenderloin in a mushroom-Cabernet reduction. The main dish was accompanied by artisan fried potatoes (so good!), salad and rice. The beef was tender and tasty. My mouth waters just thinking about the rich mushroom and wine sauce. The sides were perfect and the portions large. If we weren't going to be gone for a month we could have easily eaten less and taken the leftovers home for another meal. I can say, without hesitation, this was the best meal and the most professional, attentive service I have had in Cuenca.
