I had a great stay in this Ecuadorian Hotel right in the middle of Cuenca the staff were really helpful, and it was a really peaceful place with a nice courtyard. most rooms have a private bathroom but the are some cheaper ones with shared bath on request. i came to Cuenca for a few day and ended up staying two weeks.

I had the pleasure of spending several days at Casa Naranja and highly recommend the hostal for tranquil nights and pleasant days meandering around Cuenca’s El Centro. The rooms are immaculate, and each of the several rooms is unique and cleverly arranged. Many of the rooms with ensuite bathrooms have ultra-modern sinks and spacious bath areas.

It is only a short walk to Parque Calderón, passing by spectacular colonial storefronts and buildings, the outdoor Mercado 20 de Octubre (could you use a beautiful alpaca poncho for the chilly Cuenca evenings?), and be sure to stop for a slice of pineapple on a stick or colored whipped cream in a cone.

The proprietress, Dunia, welcomes you and assures you that “My home is your home.” WiFi and breakfast are included, and there are community kitchens on each of the two levels. A delightful stay!

We had a nice stay at this hostel. Good, comfy beds, hot water, friendly staff. The building is very stylishly renovated. All rooms are differently decorated, simple but elegant. When we were in Cuenca, the wheather wasn't that nice and it tend to get chilly in the evenings. It can get a little cold inside the building too, so don't forget to bring some warm clothes.

Our room was nicely decorated, we had a window, comfy bed, and hot shower with good pressure. However, because of the old structure it was very cold. The mother and daughter that own the B&B are very sweet, but they appear to be involved in many things. For example they weren't around the first time we tried to check in so we had to come back and breakfast is a do it yourself thing (make the coffee and warm the bread). If don't mind making coffee or the cold this is a great centrally located place in Cuenca.

If it weren't for the fact that the hotel was set back into a very quaint little courtyard dressed with characterful furnishings, this stay would have received a lesser rating. As often happens, we first got given the worst room, considering the place was almost empty it was frustrating that the girl was so reluctant to give us another. The second was far better, but none of the rooms had windows and the doors to the rooms are all very flimsy with only a dairy sized padlock to secure your room! The service was pretty lazy and the most minimal effort given for your breakfast. The pretty tea cups and plates can't hide the underlying poorness of this place.

This place is cold. No hot water in most rooms. The greeting area/office is littered with bicycles and other items that should have been in storage. My partner had the shower head fall off and hit him in the head. Two days later the shower was fixed. We could have used the room next door for a shower but that had no hot water as well. The matron/owner is cheap and very bossy. I can not recommend this hostal. In fact I moved before my time was up, forfeiting the extra day. Breakfast is simple but the girl server, Irene is very nice. This place needs some TLC and a better attitude from the owner. Lights are turned off at nine pm in the common room even if you're sitting there on a computer. There are many hostals in Cuenca not listed by Trip Advisor or Hostal World my advice would be to seek out another source for hostals.

Room Tip: Find a different hostal!!

This hostel is very clean and cosy. It is located in the city centre, in the walking distance from everything. It is an old building, but the bathrooms are renovated and decorated as modern style. The rooms are personally decorated, each room is different. The doughter (Samantha Ordoñez) is an artist and her ateljee is upstairs. The breakfast is included in the price (that is reasonable) and the guests can cook other meals in the kitchen (there are micro wave, stove and fridge in the kitchen.) This hostel is excellent choice for families or those who wish to stay longer in Cuenca. (If you stay longer than 10 nights, you will get discount.) Samantha, Irene and their mother are very friendly and helpfull and will answer all the questions you might have. I spent 8 nights in this hostel and I really enjoyed staying there.
