Description: One of the most famous Italian restaurant in Quito Ristorante Carmine It was with good luck that when Chef Carmine returned to Ecuador he found an old friend who was leaving the country and who had began the construction of a new Italian food restaurant in Quito. We all know to listen to the wise ones and let Divine Providence do the work, so that is what he did. After a short while, Ristorante Carmine Quito opened its doors in a restored republican house which overlooks a small but ancient plaza with hundred year old trees and a beautiful garden in El Batán. From the outside of the house it looks like a little piece of Europe has been transported to Ecuador and from the inside you will feel like you are eating in an excellent restaurant in Italy.

“Breathtaking atmosphere, small town Italian charm”
Reviewed March 16, 2013

A local resident of Quito recommended Carmine's to us - and while we weren't certain we wanted Italian on our last night in Quito, we left truly satisfied by the food, the atmosphere and the charm of the owner. Menus are written on rolling chalkboards. The food was outstanding. We saved room for the delicious desserts. Choose a table outside under the lights or in the "green house" area out in front of the restaurant. Keep the name/address handy with you - our taxi drive had to stop to verify directions a couple of times as Carmine's is a bit hidden off the road, but certainly worth the search!

“probably my favorite restaurant in Quito”
Reviewed March 16, 2013

Love this place! The restaurant is in a beautiful old house, and the outside seating is really nice. Most of the time I order the gnocchi because it is the best gnocchi I've ever had. It melts in your mouth. The owner is Italian and he always visits all the tables, which is really nice. Last time we were there in January he suggested a crab pasta dish instead of my usual gnocchi, haha-delicious!

“Beautiful property, average food”
Reviewed March 16, 2013

Liked Carmine, the owner-charming and gracious!
Food was very average. We had the Ecuadorian bass and a very bland pasta.
Service was above average.

“Not your typical Italian restaurant..”
Reviewed March 7, 2013

Was on my way to Galapagos on a cruise and we had dinner here. Never would I have expected a restaurant like this, wonderful atmosphere, waiters friendly, Carmine stopped by to check on us, excellent food. I had a portobello mushroom appetizer, it was like steak! The whole meal was a wonderful experience and when we were leaving, Carmine gave all the women a red rose from one of his many vases.
