“Do not go there!!!”
Reviewed May 4, 2014

We booked through a travel agency and were supposed to change the room the second night. This was not possible because a polish group (the owner of the hotel is from Poland) was preferred. There was not any reward for that but the opposite. For calling a taxi to the airport they charge you $ 30,-- but pay the driver $ 25,--. Our room was small as a box and the bathroom even smaller. The only window was facing the breakfast room. For more than $ 70,-- per night it was really expensive. Unfortunately everything was paid in advance so we could not change to the hostel in front of the hotel where the rooms were bigger (and could not be louder). The hostel is $ 48,-- per night (Arupo). If you want to have a room in the area go there. Cayman was our worst experience concerning hotels during our 3 weeks stay in Ecuador! I really do not know how they can dear to call themselve hotel. Breakfast consisted only of coffee or tea, 2 pieces of bread, small piece of butter and little jam as well as a juice. If you want to have fruit you need to pay $ 1,50 extra (but maybe you get it for free if you come from Poland).

Room Tip: Do not go there. If you insist book a room upstairs and do not pay in advance.

We booked a double bed room with change of the room after the first night. Although the hotel confirmed us the change, we had to stay in room Nr. 3- which is definitly too small for two persons.
The polish hotel manager blamed the receptionist as this would be his fault- but she didn't write down the reservation in their reservation book...
A bigger group of Polish people was preferred-they did not have to change one room-although we had the confirmation for another room.
Room Nr. 3 is directly to the breakfast room: it was very loud. There was no window in the room out to daylight.

We asked at the hotel to call a taxi for transportation to the airport-they charged us 30 USD. But the taxi driver told us later that the transport costs were only 25 USD!

Sorry but this was the worst hotel we have been to during our 25 days trip in Ecuador.
It's not worth the money at all!

Cayman is located in a part of Quito where there are rather a lot of small, basic hotels and hostals. Their prices are accordingly competitive, so the little things make the difference. Cayman has a small private garden, giving you a place to get away from the bustle in the street. Their dining area is small and the menu limited, but the staff is pleasant and the meal was suitable.

Be aware that there is one room that is just off the dining area that has a view into the garden. Being separate from the rest of the hotel, it is unusually quiet. Ask if that room is available. From what I could tell the rest of their rooms are just ordinary for a small in-town hotel.

Although this is not an upscale hotel, it is perfectly clean and well maintained. The staff was friendly and helpful, but it will be better if you happen to speak Spanish. Beds, linen and supplies were acceptable.

Room Tip: Hotels in this area are of wood construction, making them generally more noisy than accommodations i...

This was the first place we stayed, booked the room sight unseen online. It was nice, the rooms were small but clean as was the bathroom. The one young man at the front desk during the day was especially helpful, and even walked us to a travel agency after his shift was over, so we could book our trip to the Galapagos.
There was a nice common area and cold beer in the refrigerator.
The property is on a pretty street, but close to a very busy area for restaurants and bars, so was a little noisy on the weekend nights.

I booked the Cayman Hotel for two visits in October 2013. Made first booking online and second direct with the hotel.
Hotel is ideally placed near to Plaza Foch but a hundred meters away from the main bar area so quieter and better for sleep. Hotel is simple but very clean and very friendly staff who can help you book taxis, with information, etc. Hotel has a nice garden which is good for relaxing / reading.
Wi-fi is free but single router so patchy from my room .... best to sit in the longe area and connect from there.
Would recommend and stay again.

Room Tip: Room 10 is a single on the top floor. Looks over the back so a little quieter. Bathroom is compact...

I stayed for 4 nights, but was unfortunate to be put in the tiniest room (all the other single rooms were empty) where you can not turn around in the shower stall. There was no towel on the first night, but I was offered no discount nor apology. Light bulb in the table lamp was missing. No maps or info available in the hotel, so taxi seemed the only means of transportation the first day. Noisy, barking dog at 4 in the morning, Breakfast ok, basically clean and well located, and the internet is free.

I stayed at the Hotel Cayman for 5 nights. I had a single room, which had a small bed, but that was fine for me. The room was clean and the shower was the best I had in Quito- plenty of hot water with great water pressure. The hotel provides a breakfast of coffee/tea, bread, and eggs to order. The wifi signal was weak in my room but fine in common areas. I got laundry done and they did a great job.

My only complaint is that noise travels in the hotel. I was on the second floor and could here people coming and going and the noise from the buzzer at the entrance. The hotel is close to bars, so you can also hear the nightlife.
