Excellent location. Rooms stylishly furnished. Very comfortable. All amenities available. Excellent cuisine. The perfect place to be if you like personal attention rather than a large anonymous hotel.

My wife and I stayed at the villa colonna for 2 nights in October as part of a visit to the Galapagos islands and we wish we could have had longer.
The villa itself is located in the old part of Quito which has much more character than the newer part of town. The owners are Rudy and Rigo and they have restored the House over the last few years and have clearly paid attention to every detail as it is now without doubt a stunning house complete with a roof terrace which offers great panoramic views of the city and is a great place to sit with a cup of coffee early in the morning and watch Quito come to life.
The house inside is based around a courtyard style centre with a lounge which always smells fantastic due to the fresh roses which Ecuador is renowned for,and a dining room in which the boys serve up a truly memorable breakfast.
The rooms are on two mezzanine levels and are just as well restored as the downstairs with beautiful furnishings and a modern en-suite bathroom with a huge walk in shower.
The house itself is only half the story and Rigo and Rudy complete a great stay by being such great hosts.
On both nights they gave us some ideas where to eat and even made the bookings and arranged the taxis for us and when my wife left some clothes behind they duly arranged their return to us.
If you are like us and normally prefer the anonymity of larger hotels as opposed to B&B style accommodation which essentially is staying in someones house all I would say is give Villa Colonna a try as it really is a great experience and if you are like me and fed up with the decline in customer service in the UK it is a real pleasure to meet two people who genuinely care about their customers and their business and we really wish Rudy and Rigo every success in the future.

We had a truly fantastic time at this bed and breakfast situated in the city center of old town Quito. You can easily walk to the major tourist attractions. The highlight was a roof top terrace with a breathtaking view of Quito. Our most gracious hosts were not only great cooks (amazing breakfasts), but they were also most helpful in every way trying to make our stay as pleasant and perfect as possible - a VERY BIG THANK YOU! The house is spectacular, decorated with great love and attention. This place is a MUST when staying in Quito even just for one night.

My wife and I stayed at the Villa Colonna on a number of occassions in May -5 nights in all, as we went from trip to trip, Galapgos, jungle etc. After each trip it was just great to get back there and relax. Rudy minded our luggage during each absence, lokked after our washing and arrangements with our travel agent. Delicious breakfasts each morning. Really excellent hospitality, the beds are really comfortable, just perfect. 100% recommended, not cheap though, but it was worth it.

This is truly a gem and an absolute delight to stay at. Owners Rudy and Rigo are outstanding and make you feel like true royalty when you stay with them. No details has gone unnoticed and you will have trouble leaving, which is just about the only thing I could say that is bad about Villa Colonna! If you make it to Quito, do not miss out on one of the most fantastic experiences you could have and book your stay with Rudy and Rigo - you will not leave disappointed.

The owners have clearly spent a great deal of money in restoring this place to it's former glory as a colonial house - but that's what it is - a house. It's not a hotel and you are always aware of being in someone's house.
Quality of rooms is very good but also very chintzy - even the tissues are perfumed !
There is no menu for breakfast and you have to like what the owners give you. One of these guys cooks it and the other one serves it.
However, Quito is principally a transit point for connections to the Galapagos Islands or return flights, most of which leave very early in the morning requiring a pick-up around 3 to 5 am so unless you are spending the day in Quito you won't get the breakfast anyway even though you've paid for it. (the tray you get instead is very poor).
Another big downside is that the floors creak a lot so you are likely to be woken by the guests that are leaving early in the morning, even if you are not.
Only other thing to watch for is their offer to look after some luggage for you while you visit the Galapagos Islands - they will charge you $42 for keeping a suitcase for a week !
But if you are keen to stay in an authentic colonial Equador house, this is a fine example. However, there is an alternative, also in the old town, which is not only a very well restored building but has the advantage of being a proper hotel. It's the Hotel Patio Andaluz. We had dinner there one evening, viewed one of the rooms and wished we had stayed there instead. Also, it's less expensive.

My Husband and I arrived in Quito and had some difficulties at the airport and were thus not in the best state when we arrived at the Colonna. As soon as we arrived at this lovely B&B, we relaxed. The owners are just incredible people and they truly went out of their way to make sure our stay was amazing. The room was charmingly eclectic. It is in the heart of Old Town so within walking distance of many sights. The villa overall really takes you back in time and allows you to imagine Quito as it was decades ago. The breakfast was spectacular. We left feeling we had to come back and experience this magical B&B again. We cannot recommend the Villa Colonna enough. Stay here and you will not be disappointed.
