“botanical gardens!”
Reviewed May 12, 2013

Tucked into the park is a lovely botanical garden with plants from all the regions of Ecuador, well-presented and pristine. The orchid houses are lovely, the carnivorous plant house is fascinating. We went in the morning before the rains of the afternoon. It was perfect weather. As usual all the people we met were pleasant and helpful. This garden is immaculate, has clean bathrooms, and an outdoor cafe.
Outside the gardens we found some food carts and got a great lunch of potatoes quito-style, sat on the lawn and watched the families at play.
If you take a cab, check the address carefully, locate it on a map, and explain carefully to the driver. I've had two experiences with drivers who did not know about this place.

“Lovely park great family atmosphere lots of sports opportunities”
Reviewed April 29, 2013

You can play football, tennis, volleyball, squash, tennis, cycle, run and exercise using outdoor exercise equipment in the park. There are bike ramps for the BMX riders to practise their skills too. The Children have plenty of play areas, paddle/rowing boats and there is a small aquatic zoo and botanic garden. The Botanical gardens are lovely. The Park normally has wonderful art displays at the Naciones Unidas end and every third Thursday there is a homegrown fruit and vegetable market. Sundays are family days and it seems that everyone comes out to bask in the sunshine and enjoy the outdoors. On a nice day you can see Cotopaxi gleaming in the distance. The park is huge and there are lots of quite spaces to sit and read.

“Nice park with great street art”
Reviewed February 26, 2013

This park is slightly north of downtown. It is wide open with lots of green space. The main reason to visit this park, however, is the street art. There are a series of land frog statues, and some interesting art designed from recycled bottles. The park is convenient to a large shopping mall and there are some good restaurants nearby where you can take a break. It is the first stop on the metro tour bus.

We loved the botanical gardens. They were clean, informative, and fabulous. I took over 500 pictures - need I say any more.
