“Good location; remodeling in progress”
Reviewed January 25, 2014

We stayed here a total of 4 nights in 3 different rooms while on an OAT trip to Ecuador and the Galapagos. The hotel is conveniently located near Plaza Foch which has numerous restaurants and entertainment options. The staff at the front desk and restaurant spoke enough English for us to get by easily. There are two computers located in the lobby that you can use to access the internet (no charge). Two of the rooms that we stayed in had in-room safes and all of them were large and nicely decorated. There is some remodeling going on in the hotel. We could smell paint fumes in the hallway but didn't notice anything while inside our room. There is no A/C, but it wasn't needed during our stay. One small window could be opened. Be careful, because some rooms have a heat rod that is easy to accidentally turn on when trying to locate the bathroom lights. Breakfast was included with our room and was adequate to get us ready for a day of sight-seeing. You can get make-to-order eggs from a waiter since the buffet only has scrambled eggs on it. The eggs came out sunny side up each time my wife ordered hers over medium. The omelet that I got the last morning was quite good. We felt safe walking after dark in the blocks around the hotel, but we had been cautioned to be careful and stay on the main streets.

We stayed here on three occasions during our stay in Ecuador. We had three different rooms and therby had three different experiences as follows:
1. Room on seventh floor - scruffy, windows on two sides, hot with no A/c , bath grubby, a possible suicide room but windows didn't open so not an option! On the plus side bed was comfortable and the overbath shower was relatively efficient.
2. Fifth floor this time with only one wall of windows so less hot. Overall appearance much better and bathroom more modern, still no a/c but temperatute acceptable as was the room overall.
3. Upgraded to suite ( did they know about Trip Advisor?!), huge room - nearly needed satnav to find bathroom in the night, but overall somewhat lacking in charm, a case of quantity over atmosphere.
So, clearly a different experience depending on rooms, what they all have in common is breakfast - just about adequate is all I can say and for goodness sake don't leave your table for one moment to collect a forgotten item from the buffet, or you breakfast will be cleared away! After this happened to us we always left one of us on table guard duty!
Reception is efficient, but again lacking in charm, a couple of receptionists could do with a course on how to smile.
Nevertheless, this is reasonably priced and well placed for the local restaurants, so if budget is a concern stay here and ask for a lower floor ( or suite in new block), but overall I would splash out a bit and go elsewhere.

Room Tip: make sure room is not south facing and too high up

This hotel is in a very convenient location , very close to famous Plaza Foch and many shops for souvenirs , tour agencies, etc ; besides the main tourists attractions and shopping centers are very close by taxi which are not expensive. The hotel room was very nice decorated, the bathroom was of a modern style , there was free wi-fi , satellite tv. The boufet breakfast was of very good quality, and there was a bar-lounge for dinner or drinks (opened during the evening) , the food was not bad if you wanted something for snack. The staff was very helpful in providing information about the city and very friendly. We have booked an standard room , when we arrived there they informed us that there was no standard room available so they upgraded us , which was very kind of them.

This hotel was a very pleasant surprise. It is situated on a lively street, with many restaurants and shops nearby, in a walking distance to the public transportation (though taxis are quite cheap in Quito). But our room was quiet. Actually, as we stayed two weeks there, the room had been from the beginning ugraded and we could enjoy a suite with a view on the Pichincha volcano. Everything was clean, comfortable, breakfast sufficient, services swift and good. The staff mostly speaks English and was very helpful.
I really appreciated large rooms, spacious and comfortable beds and enough space for storing our clothes and things in general. Two bottles of water were distributed every day for free.
There is a gym and sauna facility, though many European or other tourists from lowlands probably won´t use it because of having some difficulties with the high elevation of Quito.
We wouldn´t mind a small refrigerator in the room, but without it it was also O.K. The only thing we really missed was the coffee and tee-maker in the room, as it would have been nice to rest with a cup.

Room Tip: I would recommend rooms on a higher floor, with some view on the city.

We only stayed here 1 night after a busy tour of Ecuador. We were upgraded to a suite . The beds were large and comfortable. The bathroom was fantastic with the best shower I have ever had in a hotel. The staff were polite and helpful. We only ate breakfast which an excellent buffet. The hotel is well situated in the new town. My only regret is that we did not find it sooner.

This hotel was beautiful! Great central location close to a bunch of restaurants and beautifully equipped.

We stayed in the new wing in a suite. For the price, I think we may have been upgraded! It has a phenomenal view over the city. The complimentary breakfast was delicious with a great variety. The hotel staff were friendly, and helpful.

There is WIFI and TV, a lounge and a restaurant. There is a spa, a gym and a pool.

We would come back to stay here without question.
