Alex the chef used to cook at Zasu and created in Lua a wonderful alternative!
Not being familiar with Peruvian cuisine I asked the owner to create a menu with some of his signature dishes.
It was very delicious and I enjoyed all dishes very much. The highlight was a NY Strip cut that was cooked to perfection and the best steak I ever had outside New York City!
The service was flawless and very helpful.

The place doesn't get any foot traffic (location) and I think is very pretty. I will certainly be back at Lua!

We totally enjoyed our 3 visits to Lua last summer.
Went with great anticipation again today and were very disappointed.
Although the grilled corvina was delicious, the fish "a lo macho" was disappointing especially the very dry and flavorless risotto.
The chocolate mousse did not have the flavor of quality chocolate so readily available in Ecuador and was not particularly attractive presentation.
Service was slow and disorganized
No "amuse bouche" was offered as in other quality restaurants in Quito.
All in all, a disappointment, especially considering the price which is almost double other comparable restaurants.

Food and service were outstanding at Lua, probably one of the best restaurants in Quito. I’ll give it 4 stars for the price, there are similar restaurants in Quito for almost half the price. A langostino risotto around $30 for example. If you don’t compare it to other restaurants in Quito the food is probably one of the best.

Based on the reviews here we decided to try this place out. We walked from our hotel, but have to admit the streets round there were dark and fairly quiet.

We shared a ceviche de pescado, a tiradito mediteraneo and the mariscos a la plancha. Our favourite was the ceviche as due to the lime it was not a rich as the tiradito and mixed mariscos.

Food was well executed and when we went, the other tables were either local business people or Ecuadorean families so we took that as a good sign!
