Many thanks for taking the time to write a review - we very much appreciate it and also are happy to know you enjoyed your experience here with us. Please come back and see us again sometime.
The service, cheerfulness and helpfulness of the staff, from the owner to the chambermaid is exceptional. We loved the intimate atmosphere and the quiet shabby chic of the decor speckled with english chintz and antique prints and furniture. Our rooms were comfortable. Relaxing in front of a crackling log fire after a long day sightseeing was great.Especially liked my garden room although the bathroom was an icebox and curtains that could only be drawn by standing on a chair.
The dinner menu is interesting and delicious and reasonably priced.
The breakfast however is unaccountably dismal. Not included in the room price and not worth paying $4.50 for 2 fried eggs, do-it-yourself toast and tea served in a milk jug.I have had considerably better breakfasts than this included in the price of cheaper establishments.
Brownie the rabbit (hops about the garden and comes to you for bits of toast)is the star of the show!
I would happily stay here again but would choose to go out to one of the many surrounding cafes for breakfast.
Many thanks for taking the time to write a review about your stay with us- we are always happy to get feedback from our guests as this is essential for us to be able to constantly improve our service. In fact, we are currently working on the solution for the curtains in your room. Whilst I appreciate your comments regarding breakfast, I do feel I must defend it just a little, as you do not mention the two different fresh fruit juices, the yoghurts and fresh fruits which are also offered on our buffet. Eggs can be ordered in any way you wish, fried scrambled, omelettes, all with bacon, cheese, ham etc. Possibly this was not made clear to you at the time and I do apologise and will make sure the breakfast staff are made aware of the necessity of offering all the alternatives. The rustic style terracotta jug in which your tea was served is not, in fact, a milk jug but I do agree that you need a proper teapot to get a good cup of tea!
We all,Brownie included, look forward to welcoming you back to La Rabida again in the not too distant future.
the lady who manages the Hostal and the lady who cooks are brilliant. every body was very polite and helpful. if you don't know Spanish you'll get by with English, most of the staff speak it. the place is spotless and unsurprisingly has a rather English air about it. having a rabbit didn't hurt either :)
Many thanks for taking the time to write a , from which we are happy to learn that you enjoyed your stay with us! Please come back and see us again - Brownie will be waiting :-)
Clean rooms, tasty breakfast, and incredibly helpful staff. The hostal arranged a late night airport pick-up for us, and the driver was waiting at the front of the crowd with our names on a placard. The night staff quickly checked us in, which we appreciated, since we were tired after an international flight. The next morning, Gloria gave us detailed tips about what to see in Quito, and a few days later, arranged a taxi to our next destination. She couldn't have been more helpful. My husband loved the location in La Mariscal. My son and I probably prefer Old Town, but that has nothing to do with the hostal. If we return to Quito, this will be our first stop.
Thank you for taking the time to write a review - we greatly appreciate feedback from our guests.
We are happy you enjoyed your stay with us and I must agree that the Mariscal is certainly the more livlier end of town to stay in. We dont have the colonial architecture but we are surrounded by restaurants, bars, shops, banks and travel agents - everything you may need within a short walking distance.
What a little gem. The Hostal de la Rabida was fantastic. I spent 7 nights there recently and can’t say enough nice things about this small B&B in Quito (La Mariscal). The hotel was clean and lovely. My stay was split by several days outside of Quito so I got to experience 2 different rooms – one on the garden and one in the main house. Both were quite comfortable. Every evening there was a blazing fire in the shared living room where I met lots of interesting travelers. Breakfasts were delicious – different fresh juice every morning with fruit, toast and eggs. And dinners were really nicely prepared. But best of all was the wonderful staff who were so helpful and friendly. Each was a delight to get to know. I’d go back tomorrow if I could.
Many thanks for taking the time to write a review. We are so happy you enjoyed your stay with us and hope that you do come back and see us sometime!
What a great quiet place! We stayed in three different rooms in Hostal de La Rabida during our stay in Quito because of the various side trips we had done. All three of them were wonderful. The rooms were clean, the beds were comfortable and the bathrooms were large. All this and more made for restful nights.
The staff was excellent especially Gloria, who helped us with all kinds of tips and suggestions, and the evening attendant( I believe his name was Freddie), who was always willing to help us out with any questions we may have had.
It is a quick walk to all kinds of fantastic places to eat and shopping. It is also a short cab ride to Old Town or a fairly long walk. We did both.
Even with our earlier than early departures, they always had some food prepared for us before we left on our trips. It was great.
The food at the restaurant was enjoyable as was the company that we shared more times than not in the form of the house pet, Brownie the rabbit.
It was a great stay and we were sad to leave such a wonderful place.
Thank you so much for your comments. We are happy you enjoyed your stay with us and we too were sorry to see you go. Brownie says hello and come back soon !
