This is a must see church if you are in Quito. May 1st was also their Labor Day do the streets were filled with people marching in a parade.

Pay the extra $2 to go to the top of the church. Great views of the city.

I am obsessed with this church. Stunning gothic architecture, breathtaking stained glass... different little rooms to go into to see the virgin of Guadalupe and other saints. Also so cool to walk up to the top of the spire and look down on Quito!

At the basis of Pichincha Volcano, close to the down town, the basilica was buildt for more than 100 years! In it, you'll see a fusion of architecture in the mixture of typical symbols of the andean culture with catholic images.
You can go to the highest part and take the most beautiful pictures of Quito.
It has also a tiny, but cozy restaurant with good tradicional food.
Looking forward to going again!

This massive basilica with detailed, ornate architecture stands out from any view within range. Such a classic landmark it is pretty much a must see to complete the Quito tour.

We spent a good hour exploring this Gothic style church, looking at the stained glass windows. Climbing to the top of the towers is a must.
There is a spectacular view of Quito from many different vantage points.
They had so many flowers in the actual church section which all smelt beautiful.
The church took many decades to build so you can appreciate the architecture and all the little details...
