“the Most preserved old town in Latin America”
Reviewed April 16, 2014

The old time Quito is a very beautiful place to visit, it is a square shape where you can find lost of churches, every where you go you can see the story of the country, the fusión between the Incas and The Spanish. every where you go the streets breath history. The plazas are another arquitectonic jewllery and dont miss Cafeteria San Agustin, the best traditional food, good atmosphere. besides the Little and tiny streets, reminds me Europe.

“An exhausting walk full of lovely sites”
Reviewed April 16, 2014

The exhausting part comes from the hills as well as the altitude, but neither should stop you from exploring this historic area of the city. We had a sunny Saturday afternoon and enjoyed the liveliness of the area and the wonderful people-watching.

“Amazing old city”
Reviewed April 15, 2014

The city has a lot of charm and is filled with an anitque feeling. Specially the street of the seven churches is particularly beautiful. If you go, plan a whole day since in the day there are a lot of traditional restaurants and sights to see. In the night, there are several events including dancing andlively.

However, be aware that it might be dangerous to carry expensive cameras and pay attention to pick pocketting.

“A heritage center which keeps getting better”
Reviewed April 15, 2014

Even five years ago the guide books were quite rightfully warning you off walking in the evenings and at night anywhere in the old city center. Now it is getting 'gentrified' but doing so while retaining the character of the place. The city is a marvelous place for wandering about and with boutique hotels joining new art galleries to complement the Ecclesiastical monuments there is plenty to see. There are lots of ups and downs so if you have just arrived take it easy. You can hide out in the churches, restaurants or museums when it rains but as with the weather in general with Quito, if you don't like what you have just wait, it is going to change.

“Nice place to wander round. Take a camera.”
Reviewed April 15, 2014

Lovely architecture and vibrant atmosphere, great little places to eat and not at all scary or dangerous area as some people would have you believe. At least not during the day time anyway. There are some nice boutique style places to stay too. Get there by bus and walk up hill. You can't miss the main plaza - which is where you will also find tourist info and be able to book the train for the Vally of the volcanoes.
