“This is a MUST!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 13, 2013

Amazing display of Guayasamin's works & beautifull premises!. You might as well spend the day, or contemplate enough time to really savour this visit!. This is not your conventional museum where you will find only Guayasamin's work but throughout and around Capilla del Hombre, Casa Taller are instalations with collections of cultural importance & an arqueological site.

“Incredible tribute to indigenous”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 30, 2013

Guayasamin's home and museum should be at the top of your to do list for Quito. And on Sunday, the whole experience is free! I always thought his work "too dark" until I had his work explained: he was a champion of the indigenous, : the children that death took by playing, for the men that weaken while working, for the poor that fail while loving.''' He painted in their honor. In addition, he was an avid collector with collections arranged by theme. Not to be missed are the fertility figurines in his bedroom. In the museum, the el condor y el toro--the condor and a bull during a festival, are not to be missed. I mean really, how many churches can you visit??? Don't miss this treat.

“Fascinating”

The artwork is stark and staggering in its critiques, the tour of the residence was fascinating. The museum tour was OK, a bit of a struggle to understand the tour guide due to his English and addressing a large group.

“Wonderful.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 12, 2013

I knew nothing of Guayasamin before coming to Ecuador. I saw this museum on trip advisor, read up on the artist and headed to the museum. The museum contains two parts - the Chapel of Man and Guayasamim's house. I went to the Chapel first. The painting are extremely expressive. I very much enjoyed the experience, although it was sad. You can ask to view the video in English, which provides some context. I then went on a tour of his house, which was given in English (since I don't speak Spanish). The tour was excellent. It was interesting, and the house is absolutely beautiful. I would highly recommend this!
