“BEAUTIFUL”
Reviewed February 18, 2012

I went to the church, inside they have a treasure, a small chapel for the Virgen, with such a lot of details, quite barroque, just awesome. then I went to the museum which is just as stunning as the rest of the convent. The library of old music books, and the chapel of Santa Rosa are incredible. And if they let you, you could climb to the tower, that is an experience you shouldn´t miss.

“Beautiful”
Reviewed November 10, 2005

In quito around 90% of the population is catholic due to the spanish bringing the religion into the country. Thus the reason why the church was built. Inside this church it is beautfully decorated with magnificent paintings and gold leaf. They have many seperate chapels in various parts of the huge church. ne in particular is decorated with the Blessed Virgin Mary Statue dressed in red with baby Jesus in her arm. The monks there wear white robes. Unfortunately the church is nder construction right now but daily mass is still held there amid all the construction workers buzzing about.Magnificent Murals adorn the walls of a particular chapel located near the back of the church(The part that is open to the people).
