You probably have already seen the description and pictures of this place. Yes, it is a splendid place, but I find their "no photography" policy unreasonable, especially considering that they charge a pretty high price ($5 per person). There are several cathedrals in Quito that are free. The National Cathedral in Quito charges a modest fee ($2), is much bigger, but allows photography. I won't even get into the debate whether a place of worship should charge a fee or not (I don't have a problem per se if the fee and the policy are reasonable). A more reasonable policy is to disallow flash and selfie stick, which I would totally understand and agree. If you already charge a fee, you have to give the paying patrons some considerations.
Yes, it is a magnificent and splendid church, but the fee + no photography policy combination rather left a bad taste in my mouth.More
