We arrived in Quito and stayed at another place for one night and found it much too noisy and the hot water didn't work so we checked out. A business owner in Quito recommended Mansion de Angel and so we tried it out. It was more expensive than our other place but compared to hotel prices in the United States, this place was a real bargain. When we walked in we were very happy - fresh roses on a table in the entrance, beautiful antiques, 25 foot ceilings and a place to relax in a garden environment in the back.

When we went to our rooms, we were blown away. They were big and kind of stately. More than we thought we would get for what we were paying. Our internet didn't work so we moved rooms - which didn't cause any trouble - and we found two very comfortable rooms near the wireless internet broadcast location and had very fast internet.

The staff were always very friendly no matter if we needed batteries or some laundry done. I always looked forward to the breakfast which was fresh and good. We even ate there for dinner a few nights and sometimes we had the whole dining area to ourselves. I felt like we lived in this mansion.

And I hate to give all the surprises away, but there is something nice in warm at the bottom of your bed at night to warm your feet as you crawl into bed.

Oh, and the showers - LOVED my shower.

I kept telling my friend I was traveling with that I wasn't going to leave - that I would just stay and live in this lovely old (but newly remodeled) mansion. By the way, the current hotel has only been open since about November of 2009 - they had another location and then moved to this one after it was fully remodeled.

Obviously highly recommended. We already referred some other travelers to stay here.

We stayed at the Mansion in its new location for two days prior to going to Galapagos and one day after our return from Galapagos. Beautiful boutique hotel with great friendly competent staff. Renovated executive mansion. Renovation beautifully done with two wonderful public areas with antiques and gorgeous paintings. Rooms were large and very comfortable to include hot water bags in the beds to warm the feet. Nice buffet breakfast.

We spent 3 nights at the Boutique Hotel Mansion del Angel and we have nothing but high praise for this beautiful, well-run hotel. We actually stayed in 3 different rooms and each was exquisitely furnished. Our first night there was on arrival in Ecuador and the staff prepared a special tea for us to help with adjustment to the altitude. The next day we went to Otavalo, but returned to Mansion del Angel three days later and spent another night there. This time, the hotel staff arranged a taxi to take us to some of the Quito sights and also made dinner arrangements for us. The next day, we went to the Galapagos and the staff at Mansion del Angel took care of storing suitcases for us. When we returned 10 days later, the suitcases were quickly delivered to us and the staff helped us plan our last evening in Ecuador.

Each time we returned to Mansion del Angel, it was like coming home - but, better! We were very well cared for in one of the most beautiful hotels I've ever stayed in. I recommend it very, very highly and can't imagine staying anywhere else in Quito!

We stayed at the Mansion Del Angel two nights prior to, and one night after, our Galapagos trip. The staff was very attentative, polite and helpful. The driver picked us up and delivered us to the airport and always helped with our bags. The initial trip to the hotel was a bit curious when you don't know where you are going and it seems to be in an alley, but I guess it is a street.
The included breakfasts where very good with a large selection and made to order eggs. The morning of our return flight, we had to leave before the scheduled breakfast, but the staff made us coffee and toast before we left. That was very thoughtful and appreciated.
The room was huge with a large bathroom and shower room. No airconditioning, but it wasn't needed. Bedwarmers were placed in the beds in the evening which was a nice touch. The hotel is beautiful and well kept.
The staff was always avaible to help with anything we needed. An afternoon tea service is also included. They discourage individual tipping but do have a tip box at the desk. They split the tips between the staff, but we did tip the driver individually as well as he really was a great help.
The only small problem I had was the barking dogs in the area. I think one belong to the hotel, but am not sure. I sleep lightly and the dogs barking everry few hours was a small annoyance, but it is a huge city with all the typical city noise one would expect. I just used my ear plugs!
I would stay again if we are ever in Quito in the future.

Really nice 'individual' hotel. Bedroom was very nice, 4 poster beds, and little extras like rose petals on the pillows, chocolate covered strawberries on the side. Breakfast was served on the 'rooftop restaurant' and was excellent, including Ecuadorian fruits. As it is a small hotel we had the breakfast room to ourselves each morning which gave a personal feel to our stay. The hotel also has a small lounge with local newspapers where you can have a drink. The staff were friendly and helpful.
Highly recommended.

Elegant place with comfortable bed and large well decorated rooms. A nice sitting room and breakfast area. Full breakfast of eggs and toast was included. Good central location. Much more expensive than other nice rooms in the area, but overall high quality.

We stayed at the Mansion for 3 nights during a 9 day trip to Ecuador. We arranged a transfer from the airport to the hotel as it was our first visit and we arrived late at night. At $25 we thought it was a bit expensive, but it was efficient and the driver was waiting for us when we arrived.

Check in was smooth and our room greeted us with flowers and chocolates and bath robes. The decor was magnificent. There was also hot water bottles placed in our beds.
Breakfast was included in the rate of $117 US. We booked everything over the internet.
There are no lifts in the property but we always received assistance with our bags and calling a taxi etc.
The place had good security with an electronic gate at the entrance.
There were plenty of restuarants and cafes in the area.
Staff were all obliging.
