“Authentic luxury”
Reviewed December 17, 2011

There are lots of places in the north of Quito that will charge you much more than Mansion del Angel--but you've stayed in places like this before in every other country you've visited. The Mansion del Angel is an authentic colonial-era home converted to guest rooms and offers a unique experience and exceptional service. The staff are courteous and helpful without being pushy, and the ambience is unmatched.

If you're the kind of traveler who thinks that luxury means "brand new" then this place isn't for you...be willing to accept that a colonial-era home may have a squeak in the floor or an antique but beautiful lamp. If that fits your idea of luxury, this is the place for you!

We arrived at this well modernised colonial home in the city centre on a Sunday and enjoyed a walk in the nearby park. The hotel has a country house feel filled with period furniture. Our room was a little odd shaped but comfortable with good en-suite. Tea was served in a first floor sitting area daily. There are no restaurants in walking distance and so we ate in both nights at the bistro - excellent!
The staff were excellent and helpful.

What a little gem of a hotel. From the moment we landed to leaving the service was extremely persin and exemplary. We stayed in this hotel twice in one trip travelling to and from galapagos. Each time we had a different room which was unique and exceptional. The rooms were cool in evenings and staff turned down beds whilst having a bistro me with ling lasting hot water bottles. Fresh and abundant flowers in each room and scattered petals made fir a lovely boutique feeling. Meals were the best we had had on holiday although limited choice but this eas due to the boutique nature if hotel. Early morning breakfast arranged for an early flight without trouble. Laundry service overnight. Beautiful courtyard style garden. Service from all staff was 5 star and I would definitely recommend this place for a luxury stay. I think they installed a jacuzzi in a new glass building in garden with soa treatments too. Sadly too late for us. Location is a taxi ride from airport . Intercom entry for guests fir added security. Fabulous place

We stayed at this rather baroque-like, gaudy, 8-room hotel for two nights. On the day we left we were promised an early breakfast but the cook refused to cook anything because it was too early. When open, breakfasts are modest at best. Rooms are quite nice with very high ceilings. Location is just OK. They have a complementary afternoon tea service. While this hotel has character, I think most people would be better off at the nearby Hilton.

The service at Hotel Mansion del Angel is unbelievable from the owners to all of the employees. Javier, Patricio, and Andreas were absolutely wonderful and treated us like royalty. The property is lovely, and they have covered every detail down to rose petals enveloping the soap. While this hotel might be a little distance from the more touristy areas, I still highly recommend it. They have also just recently opened their spa and if we had more time we would definitely have taken advantage of the treatments they offer.

We stayed here for 2 days prior to our trip to Galapagos and again after our trip to the islands. The rooms were very spacious and everyone in our group was impressed. One person in our group arrived at the airport but her luggage didn't make it. The staff was so helpful trying to track down the luggage and when that didn't work, they arranged a shopping trip so she could purchase some clothing in town. There are security issues in Quito which they explained to everyone in our group and they helped with dinner plans for those that wanted to go out on the town. There is also a restaurant in the hotel and afternoon tea is served in a beautiful room on the second floor.
