Got charged $94 for laundry,(more than the room)???? Poor staff. Rooms are over rated and not cleaned early enough. Pool doesn't feel "heated". Nobody speaks English. Must wear trousers in the low class of restaraunt. Poor location. No tours offered. Nobody offered to carry luggage. Wi-fi very slow and always dissconnects.
Will not be reccommending this hotel, infact will be doing the opposite.

We were really happy with our stay at this hotel. The view was fabulous, great breakfast, fine rooms, huge heated pool. They held our bags while we were traveling, were very helpful with cabs, etc. The location was convenient and regardless, you will end up taking cabs in Quito and they are very cheap. I would definitely recommend staying here.

Beside the views of Quito, I have no idea what made tripadvisor praise this hotel. Yes, it is big, the rooms are clean and the 7th floor restaurant is ok, but besides that it is hugely overpriced, without any charm or atmosphere. The staff and hotel rules seemed inflexible to me and the view is only good if there are no clouds or fog, which anybody who has visited Quito will tell you happens often. I asked for a large bed and got a small room with a bed that hardly fit two people....at 150 US$ / night (170 US$ / night for two people)!
200 yards away I stayed in smaller hotel which gave me the presidential suite with in-room jacuzzi, sauna, full-size bar, a sofa arrangement, complimentary wi-fi and a serious king-size bed for less. And the view was pretty much the same. I can only assume that the previous reviews have been written by people with more money than taste.

The breakfast and view are the highlights of this hotel. We had a nice stay over two days - when we finally got to the place. They had an overbooking the first night and put us at a hotel around the corner. Which was pretty annoying at 1 in the morning. Then we had to repack and get out of the other hotel to move back. Overall, it was a good thing as the Hotel Quito was a much nicer hotel than the Stubel Suites they put us in.

A good sized safe to fit all our valuables and a nice well appointed room with solid wifi. We faced the rear of the property and stayed in room 205 which was all the way at the opposite end of the hotel from the lobby. We didn't mind the walk, but if you don't want a small hike, try to stay a bit closer to the lobby. We found our room to be quiet and spacious.

Plenty of dining options in the area as well as a convenient bank, ATM, pharmacy in case you forgot your sunblock.

The only real ding on this place was the hours for the gym. We were there over the weekend and were extremely disappointed to find that the gym opens at 9 and closes at 4. Also, I mailed a post card from the front desk and it took almost 3 weeks to get to the United States. I don't know if it got lost in the Ecuadorian mail or if they forgot to put it in the post, but that seemed like a really long time to me!

We stayed in the Hotel Quito twice during our tour of Ecuador, once at the beginning and again at the end of our trip. The first room afforded a spectacular view of the nearby volcanoes and the city, while the second room was not as stunning, we were exhausted anyway and didn't really care. The view from the 7th Floor restaurant overlooked the city of Quito and was truly breathtaking.

Free wi-fi was welcome, as was the free coffee in the lobby during the day. The staff were most helpful and certainly friendly. The only downside is that the hotel is huge and walking to our rooms was a long hike! Breakfast was wonderful and quite extensive. Anytime we're back in Quito, the Hotel Quito is where you'll find us.

Room Tip: Try to get a room on an upper floor in the back of the hotel where the view is better.

We spent three nights at Hotel Quito, and found it to be conveniently located, clean, and we fully appreciated the complimentary Wi-Fi access. Our initial stay was one night on our way to Cuyabeno, and we returned for two nights on our return from the Galapagos. The rooms were clean, the included breakfast was delicious and extensive, with a fabulous view of the mountains and the valley, the beds were comfortable, and each room has a balcony. A bonus is the fact that you can actually put toilet paper in the toilet. (Something not very common in Ecuador.)

We stayed in a room facing the pool our first night, and it was very quiet. Our second stay was in a room facing the front, and it was quite noisy from the traffic. I sleep well almost anywhere, and l was awakened our second stay from the noise. I would definitely suggest requesting a room facing the pool. The hotel is also in the flight path of the airport, but the airplane noise ended by midnight. Part of the appeal of the hotel is it's central location to the airport, shops, downtown, etc.

Our group had dinner in the restaurant one night, and while the food was good, the service wasn't very prompt. We had room service one night, and it was excellent. I would stay here again.

Room Tip: Request a room facing the pool. Rooms facing the street have too much traffic noise.

While I hear good things about this hotel, I found it to be quite average. The first room I had was on the far end of the hotel, had horrible lighting and the room smelled funny. It felt like a college dorm room. The restaurant upstairs is nice with a great view. I tried to take the stairs to the gym the first night I arrived (from the far end of the hotel). I found myself in long, dark narrow hallways, a tad fearfully. The gym, not connected to the hotel, is decent - it is definitely built for weight-lifting men. I returned a second time and had a much nicer corner room... if I had had that room the first time I might have liked the hotel better. Oh and the staff was OK (not better or worse).

Room Tip: Request a corner room with a view of the volcano.
