“Beautiful Hotel To Stay”
Reviewed October 10, 2012

We spent one night at the JW Marriott in Quito - we thought it was a spectacular hotel. As well the service was good - our rooms were very nice - and the people were friendly. We can highly recommend this hotel.

Having family outside Quito, we decided to stay here one night to be closer to the airport. We now will stay here every time and have family come to us. I should preface by saying my wife works for Marriott and has worked for Ritz Carlton in NYC, DC and Miami. This hotel is on par with all of them! The staff, who all speak English, could not have been more accomaditing. The In-room dining service was perfect (best hamburger in Quito). The room was everything you expect from a Marriott, comfortable and spacious. My compliments to the entire team!

I spent 6 days in Quito at this Hotel attending a Congress. The food at the restaurant was always good and also a good variety of choices for breakfast. Staff always willing to help and so kind. There is a mall and a supermarket at walking distance as well as restaurants.

Wow, this is the best hotel I've ever stayed at. I need a room for one night between Mindo and my next flight. I could not have a better selection for a top class hotel. Especially after 3 days in the rain forest. The staff was efficient during check in. The Lobby was impeccable. Very comfortable room and the check out was quick and easy. Most all the key staff was comfortable with English and that was welcome change. If you can afford the slightly higher rate, (I used the Marriott Senior Rate) this is the place to check in and relax.

Location: In the New Town section of Quito, this hotel is convenient to most major tourist sites withing Quito and has shops and restaurants within walking distance. It is also a good "base" for day trips outside of Quito, and to start a tour into other more remote (amazon or galapagos) regions.

Theme: This hotel is a Marriott brand. We found it to be of modern design, much like any of the JW brand, it caters to international tourists and business people. There were arrangements of roses and other tropical flowers placed all over the hotel and the architecture was designed to highlight the beautiful Andean setting, with clerestory windows in the lobby to capture the volcano views as well as viewing decks overlooking the city and Cotapaxi on the other side. When we visitied the attached arrt gallery had many original works by local artisits, past and present on display through out the hotel, lending a more authentic feel. The interior multi level courtyard with fountains and bridges and wall of windows looking out to the pool is lovely. The pool area is massive with multiple connected pools, but only a small whirlpool.

Room: The rooms were spotless and comfortable with pure white bedding and multiple pillows. The AC system was efficient and quiet. The room had outlets on the desk for electronics. Ipod docking station and clock radio, and mini bar. Our rooms overlooked a parking lot, the city beyond and to the far right, on a clear day, a view of Cotapaxi.
The bath was large with shower with glass door and toilet enclosures, a large tub and single sink.

Service: Excellent; the front desk was efficient and responsive. Luggage servicesa dn valet were quick and efficient. Staff in the spa and pool area was polite and helpful. Housekeeping was thorough and unobtrusive, except for one afternoon when the rooms were not made up until after 3, as we were returning for a rest before dinner.

Restaurants: The Bistro Latino offers an extensive breakfast buffet with an omelet and egg station. In addition to all the usual eggs, bacon, pappas, ( breakfast potatoes), pancakes, there was hot cereal, cold cereal, yogurt, sushi, ceviche, breakfast meats and cheeses in addition to pastries and fruits I would never have imagined existed ( but also all your comfortable favorites). 3 juices were offered, neat blends of strawberry and papaya, and all those other fruits, as well as orange. Coffee is poured- be aware that it is offered as " black" and "con leche"; con leche is half coffee half milk.
The Don Porfirio is a Mexican restaurant with excellent straks and fajitas. We had a late lunch/early dinner there and it was very quiet, but service was attentive.

Things to do in the area: This is a great base for visiting Old Town, Plaza Foch with its outdoor cafes and shops is nearby. It was also a good place to base for day trips to Otovalo, or Mindo.

Room Tip: Some rooms overlook the lobby, ask for one with a view outside, so you have an oppotunity to see the...

As part of the Celebrity Expedition touring the Galapagos Islands, we had the privilege of staying at the JW Marriott, Quito, Ecuador. We enjoyed our stay and highly recommend the main floor lobby bar for their delicious sushi and exceptional service. The main restaurant serves a plentiful breakfast buffet and the accomdations are very comfortable. We appreciated the business centre service. Our children thought the gym facilities were outstanding, being very clean with up-to-date equipment. We would return to the JW Marriott, Quito, should we return to this area.

Room Tip: The higher up in the building you are, the less noice you will hear from local traffic.

We visited Quito in mid- March 2012 for me to have stem cell therapy and since we are members of Marriott, found this hotel. Because of the cost of living being so much less in Ecuador, this hotel was very affordable as opposed to here in the US. So it gave us the opportunity to try the JW Marriott level. It's a beautiful hotel with a gorgeous lobby graced by beautiful large rose arrangements since Ecuador is known for its rose industry. The hotel also had wonderful restaurants. We ate in four of them and the food was delicious. The rooms are simply decorated, I wouldn't say they're anything special. The bathroom was very spacious though which was nice with both a shower and large bathtub.

The hotel is well- situated for what we wanted and we were also recommended by two locals a wonderful restaurant only a couple blocks away which we went to 3x and absolutely loved it. It was called, La Ronda. Here you can find comida tipico- traditional meals the Ecuadorians eat. I would highly recommend it!
