This was an ideal way to get to see the city and have an opportunity to visit the major attractions without taking cabs all over town. The English commentary is clear, easy to understand and
gives a very good description of what you are seeing. There is a brief stop at Panecillo, so it does not require you to stay there for a hour waiting on the next bus. As advised, do not stand up on the upper level as some utility lines are just barely over the top of the bus. The buses were on time all day. We are really glad we took this tour.

“A 'must do' in Quito”
Reviewed April 30, 2013

The modern, clean and comfortable buses make 13 stops throughout the city where you can hop on and off as you like for one day. Tickets are only valid for one day (not 24 hours) so get going early, as the buses only come past once an hour, so if you don't start early you won't be able to get off much as you're forced to spend an hour at least at each stop. It's a pity they don't have half-hour intervals as the hourly ones discourage one from getting off at stops where there isn't so much to see, while the time you need at the Teleferico is again awkward to align with the bus schedule, as one hour is too little and two too long. Suggestion: if you want to go on the Teleferico, take a taxi from the bottom. They are parked a short walk up the hill, just where they know people will already be panting. It's a very steep walk up. Walking down after the ride is fine though.

In any event, as these services go, this one is really very good. It's reasonably priced at USD12, has stops in all the right places, and I found the recorded commentary good, with bits added by the tour guide here and there.

Be sure to wear a hat and take sunscreen and enough water. They don't close the canopy in the blistering sun, only when it rains.

They also offer night tours at USD10 and special tours on Saturday nights at USD16.

Well worth it.

“Best way to see the city in a day!”

Great inexpensive option for people to see all the sites and get a good feel for the city. The ability to get on and off the bus at various sites gives you flexibility to spend time in those that interest you.

Finally a Hop On Hop Off tour bus and very well done. Good value. Gives a great overview and stops at all the major points of interest. Clear auditory recording in both Spanish and English. Very convenient stops.

“Great value and a good overview of the city”
Reviewed March 16, 2013

Great bus tour, we stayed on the whole time (about 2 1/2 hours) but if you wanted you could get off and see one of the destinations (like the basilica or presidential plaza) and jump back on later. Not bad for $12 USD. Also there's a cool retractable roof so you can still ride in the rain.
