“A Truly Special Gem”
Reviewed May 1, 2013

A group of us stayed here for one night. Unfortunately we didn't arrive until late so didn't have the luxury of enjoying this special B&B for longer. When we walked in we all said WOW! I don't think I have stayed in a more beautiful B&B before. The owners and staff were super friendly and they have a wonderful boutique restaurant that served us a fabulous dinner.

The location is fantastic, the building is gorgeous and eco-friendly, but most of all Sonya, Bernardo, and the rest of this family and staff make this place a warm and loving home. We stayed for 9 days, interspersed with trips to Mindo and Otavalo, and loved it. This place is truly special. ..and the restaurant is fabulous...they will prepare vegetarian options if requested ...and save room for dessert. I feel like I have family in Quito now. Enjoy

Room Tip: Every room is special, and different

Our group of 7 people only had one night at this hotel, unfortunately. Our wonderful hosts took us on a tour of this unique property. It was originally a convent, apparently, and is very nicely restored. We ate at the hotel restaurant, and had a great supper. We didn't have chance to try the breakfast, as we had to leave at 5 am for an early flight. All the staff were super friendly and helpful. Thanks for a great stay!

Everyone was so helpful. Bernardo and staff made sure you were getting what you needed and even left us rolls with jam for our early morning departure. The rooms are nice and plenty of good lounge areas. This is the perfect place if you want to explore old town Quito.

We were made to feel so at home by the proprietors of this hotel. The hotel is beautifully decorated and the hosts are keen to inform guests about the history of the building. The hosts also give excellent advice on places to visit in the city. Breakast is served at a restaurant attached to the hotel (downstairs). Wifi is available in the communal area, and if you are lucky you might pick it up in rooms on the groundfloor. We were sad to leave.

Great little hotel in the Old City, just around the corner from San Francisco, very centrally located. About a dozen rooms in an old converted convent, not luxurious but very comfortable. More like a B & B than a hotel. It is down an alley off the street, there's a fruit stand during the day in the mouth of the alley. Seems uninviting, but don't worry. The end of the alley opens up into a small courtyard, with a small restaurant at the end. The included breakfast is served there, dinner there was good although the menu is limited. The entrance to the hotel is on the right, and the lobby is up a flight of stairs. The hotel has two stories of rooms around a central open atria, full of plants and comfortable furniture. Wifi worked well. The place has been in the same family for three or four generations. They speak excellent english, and are very helpful on transportation and suggestions for getting around the city and places to see and eat. Very comfortable, terrific value for the money, we had two rooms for four people for under $125/night. $50 for a van to the new airport. Some people had concerns about safety in the Old City, we had no issues and felt comfortable, especially during the daytime. Seems like tourist security has been a priority of late. I would certainly stay here again if I find myself in Quito.

Room Tip: They all seemed good.

I found this B&B on Tripadvisor and it lived up to all the positive reviews. It's in the heart of the Centro Historico, just round the corner from Plaza San Francisco. The house has been in the family for several generations and was converted into a B&B last year. Apart from the addition of en suite bathrooms, minimal changes have been made. The common sitting rooms have antique furniture and the whole place is full of atmosphere and very comfortable. It's arranged around a central courtyard so the windows of some rooms look on to the courtyard rather than being externally facing which we'd have preferred. It's a family run business and everyone is very helpful and concerned that you should enjoy your visit and treat the place as a home from home.
