Met ex-pats from various countries daily and enjoyed coffee with them. They all spoke English

The food here did not strike me as being authentically Greek. More importantly it was not very good.

The spanakopita was the small, oily deep fried triangle variety - not pie. Given it was so small I didn't think $1.35 was a bargain.

I also got a plate with a skewer of cheese, tzatziki , salad, bread and chips. The cheese had been grilled but overly charred and was some kind of haloumi substitute. The tzatziki was bland - devoid of cucumbers, herbs and I didn't even notice any garlic to speak of. The bread was Arabic in style but again bland and white. I'm not sure what the chips were doing there except stuffing me with cholesterol. Finally, the salad. It was not remotely Greek and had a sweet oily dressing that I thought was industrially produced and commercially bought. This serving size was sufficient for a lunch but not good value at $4.50 - give me a good almuerzo in preference any day!

Finally I had a melomakarona biscuit. It was only ok and cost $0.85 forva single biscuit.

The ambience was also ordinary - diner style tables but quite spacious and clean.

When I went it was not at all busy but the service was still surprisingly slow. Fortunately it was friendly and, once I had manifested my surprise at the slowness, they were good at keeping me apprised of how long it would take.

Delicious food and nice staff. There is something for everyone. My favorite is the minced meat souvlaki, try that one!

We went to this new casual restaurant for lunch and were very pleasantly surprised by the excellent cooking.. I do not know the names of some of the dishes, but we had two appetizers. One a fried Greek chess and the other the spanikopita. Both both excellent. Each of us had a souvlaki, pork and chicken and again, they were great. The platter we had, for only 4.50 usd, was souvlaki, greek french fries, pita bead, tzatsiki sauce ( excellent ) and a nice refreshing salad. Not fancy at all, but a great little find in Quito. OUTSTANDING SERVICE.
