“Anahi Cruise”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 7, 2013

We arranged this 7 day cruise with Galapagos Experience. The information and communications were very good. An agent met us a Quito airport, and another in Baltra. The guide, Roberto, and the crew were excellent. The meals were ample and good. Drinks are expensive.
Anahi is a catamaran, probably less stable than a single hull, but faster from place to place. There were 2 or 3 events per day - walks, snorkeling, panga rides. Kayaking was offered twice, but there were no takers.

“Galapagos with Gate 1 Travel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 30, 2013

We recently took a 9 day tour with Gate 1 Travel of the Galapagos Islands. We had a excellent experience. Gate 1 took good care of us and we enjoyed the Explorer II. Galapagos is so unique. The animals were not afraid because they do not have predators. Seeing three different kinds of boobie birds was amazing. Snorkeling with sea lions was also amazing. We enjoyed seeing numerous blue footed boobies dive into the sea to catch fish as well as watch 10 foot sharks swim around the ship at night. A great trip.

“Happy Gringo and the Galapagos Beagle”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 30, 2013

We have American friends who live in Quito and asked for advice re an agent for booking a trip to the Galapagos. Happy Gringo was recommended and we worked very happily with Angel via email to set up our trip and picked up all necessary paperwork from him in Quito. Love that Ecuador uses American currency! We were able to select the boat, which determined the number of passengers, and duration of the trip. We were on the Beagle, a 100 ft sail boat. We motored most of the time, especially at night when we moved to a different island, but also enjoyed a bit of sailing. The boat was very comfortable, only 13 passengers, other Americans and Brits, who were lots of fun, and the islands lived up to their reputations. Not sure I would recommend the Beagle at the moment as it seems to be going through some issues...perhaps a change of ownership???...and many of the crew seemed disengaged, no eye contact/interaction with passengers, jaded, distracted??? I hesitate to write this, but I would want to know if I was looking for a ship not just the good bits, but the bits that didn't feel quite right. General advice, however, for a Galapagos boat trip is the smaller the ship the better as you go on the islands as a group and much easier to move along with only 13 people and the guide. You may want to read something about Darwin before you go!!! And be open minded to the concept/evidence of evolution! Be sure to know what size wet suit you need, prescription face masks are not that expensive and then you have your own. Snorkeling was a highlight. There was nothing in the way of ear plugs, sunscreen, etc., to purchase on board, so be sure you have every possible thing you may need. Pack light...this is not a cruise ship with a captain's dinner!!! Good hiking shoes, wide brimmed hat, sun shielding shirts, bathing suit, shorts, light jacket/sweatshirt for cool evenings, flip flops for on board, binoculars, ear plugs, sunscreen. Happy sailing!

“Galapagos Islands”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 6, 2013

What a place - they are so keen to protect their islands. Week long cruise moving from island to island - each one with different coloured sand and such a variety of wildlife. Its not hard to see why they want to protect it. Interesting WET landings at some of the islands - go prepared to get wet. Its worth it.

“Galapagos, tricks to a land based vacation”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 29, 2013

We wanted to go to the galapagos but didn't want to do the cruise opption. Intitravel helped me arrange a trip stationed at the Hotel Silberstein on Santa Cruz Island taking day trips from their. I highly recomend this opption for the Galapagos. WE got a little flavor for the local culture and Ecuador as well as the fantastic animals, snorkleing and Darwin history. Here are some tips:
the $100 park fee is paid at the Baltra Airport, the $10 travle card is paid at the first airport you land in Ecuador. the ferry to Santa Cruz is .80 cents, if your hotel doesn't pick you up at the aiport be ready to pay this fee. ON the islands, most places want you to not put toilet paper in the toliet. this takes a big getting used to. Do bring a floppy saffari hat! Don't worry about big hikeing shoes, teva's or keens are fine. I didn't need long pants. A skirt or dress that comes off easy when you need to swim is perfect. you will snorkel every time you go out on a boat, take advantage. Every were there is life, birds in the sky, ray's/sharks in the sea, sea lions on the beach. Soak it all in and enjoy.
