Based entirely on email communications from me, Gissela Ledesma of Metropolitan Touring set up a wonderful 12 day Ecuadorian adventure for two of us. Quito, Otavalo, Amazonia, and Galapagos, complete with all internal air tickets, airport transfers, fantastic guides and tours, and advice on some really wonderful places to stay. Gissela tailored our trip to meet our expectations -- we wanted to stay in an historic hotel in old Quito;the Napo EcoLodge in Amazonia; and we wanted a "sleep on land" Galapagos experience while getting out to explore multiple islands.
Everything was Fantastic. In Quito/Otavalo, guides Florencia and Ramiro were some of the best guides we've met, anywhere.

Just back from the 5 n/6 day cruise of the Western Islands on the M/v santa cruz which we booked through Safari Ecuador. LOVED it. The ship is great, we were happy to be on a bigger ship because the water was quite rocky. Everything was handled professionally and we couldn't have been happier with it!

We actually did this trip two yrs ago, but after reading the current reviews I see not much has changed, so this speaks to their consistancy - long may it continue!

Wife and I did a 4 day cruise on the M/V Santa Cruz through Metropolitan Touring. We flew from Quito to Guayaquil , changed planes and took a roughly 2 and a half hr flight to the Galapagos. Landed on San Cristobal, the M/V Santa Cruz was moored just off the island and we were promptly ferried out to the boat.

The tour(felt like an expedition!) was amazing. We were there in Oct, water at its coldest was 68* F, fine for a California guy, but most others needed wetsuits, which were available on board("spring" suits -short sleeves and legs) They split us into groups by language, and offered an itinerary that you could suit to yourself. They offered guided hikes of the islands led by professional, courteous conservationists, as well as snorkeling for various skill levels. Snorkelers make sure you see "Devil's Crown," strong swimmers battle the current for the best underwater scenery of the trip.

You could choose to skip the snorkeling for extended hikes, or vice-versa. I liked hiking in the AM and snorkeling the afternoon...whatever suits your tastes.

At the same time the boat had the feel of a cruise ship, great menu imo, breakfast buffet, the whole nine yards. A gorgeous dining room, bar, sitting area, library, and wifi connection. We paid for the larger suit, but even the smaller rooms looked nice, each with its own bathroom....

In our limited time we saw San Cristobal, Espanola, Floreana, Fernandina, and Isabella Island - as well as visiting the Darwin Center and the giant tortoises. I could go on for two pages with what I saw on and those islands and in the water.

Only drawback: this trip is not cheap....but it's money well spent if you do it right.

We also used Metropolitan for a tour of Quito, and was impressed by their service. Would definitely use them again. Van picked us up on time, and the guide was pleasant and let us explore the town at our pace.

Used this company to travel through Equador and they were excellent in every respect. They arrived on time, they were great at giving us all the information we needed both on travel queries as well as local history and life.
The guide and driver we had to take us from Guayaquil to Riobamba were particularly good. Wilson, the guide, was really enthusiastic about his country and Ernesto the driver made every attempt to help us even though he spoke hardly any English. This all made the trip extra enjoyable for us.
We also had an excellent guide for our tour of Quayaquil and for our tour of Quito. It was my birthday while we staying in Quito and the company gave me a beautiful scarf made by local artisans.

Our recent trip to Galapagos was life-changing, and so much of this is thanks to the yacht "La Pinta", and our excellent travel agent who made all the arrangements. The yacht is luxurious, with fine cabins and public rooms, first-class crew and guides, pleasant travel companions, very good meals, and wonderful excursions - all on time and well executed.

Our travel agency was Inti Travel and Tours and our super-efficient travel agent there, whose specialty is Galapagos cruises, was Jeff Waugh B.Sc. (Wildlife Science) who has decades of experience guiding in Galapagos.

I consider myself a fairly demanding client, but Jeff took all my questions and concerns in stride and provided speedy and accurate responses and helpful advice. I highly recommend his services.
