Stayed for three nights and really had no problems with area once we figured out orientation. Nice to have water, tea or coffee always available. Filtered water to refill your own bottle is always a nice touch. Very good inexpensive breakfast. Only complaints due to other guests. European lady skypeing very loudly in the stairwell late at night and the smoking in the lounge could be annoying to some.

This was one of the best Hostels I've stayed in, ever. The staff is so friendly and helpful, especially the owner, Ornelia. The breakfast is wonderful, and freshly made every morning. In addition to the great location, the house itself is very historic and beautiful. I highly recommend staying here if you find yourself in Quito!

I stayed at Colonial House last week after booking last minute. We arrived at 11pm and a very friendly volunteer greeted us and showed us to our room. The sheets and pillows were clean, but the comforter and throw pillows had seen better days. Still, was comfortable!

For $3.50, had a very filling breakfast! Absolutely worth it. There is a courtyard out back with some hammocks and a sitting area inside that was nice to lounge in. Free hot tea and coffee all day.

However, I had friends from Quito and when they came to pick me up they were very concerned with where I was staying, saying it wasn't the safest of areas in Central Quito, which worried me. Heeding their warning, we always cabbed right to the door and had the driver wait while we were let in. When we were being picked up, we waited inside. WIth these precautions, there were no problems. However, I do wish I had been in an area I could be more comfortable walking around in.

This hostel is really well run and it pays off. There are several volunteers there who are very professional, friendly and helpful. The price is great $20 (including tax) for a double room with a shared bathroom. It is close to the centre of Quito's old town (5 minutes walk) and not far from La Mariscal (25 minutes walk). The kitchen area is well stocked and immaculately clean (although quite small) and there is a massive communal area with a pool table. The hostel is very quiet from 10.30pm. Room 7 has great wifi and is very quiet. However, room 8 gets a lot of street noise (dogs, gas van which does 3 laps each morning hooting, car alarms and other traffic noise). We also didn't get wifi in room 8 (although there was a small communal reading area just outside the room where you could get wifi), so it does depend on what room you get. The shared bathrooms are kept very clean and the bedding is very clean too. We did some washing at the hostel for $2 a kilo which is a bit pricey for Ecuador, but it smelled so nice that it was well worth it. The hostel organises tours and provides breakfast for a fee ($3.50).

Room Tip: Room 7 is definitely the best for double rooms with shared bathrooms - no street noise and good wifi...

The staff here was extremely helpful and friendly. Daniel in particular helped us to figure out a tour of Quilotoa. The breakfast is as good as everyone mentions. Clean and quiet (if you are in one of the back rooms) but wifi signal can be shoddy. Overall, a great deal!

Colonial House is a very nice and friendly place. Especially the staff is very nice and helpful. They are very much interested in helping you and also making sure that taxis and other places don't rib you off...for instance by telling taxi drivers how much they will be allowed to charge you. Free internet is available and it is very close to town. A big advantage is also their airport shuttle! Even though we arrived late at night and were delayed, they were waiting for us and got us safe to the hostel. The only thing that could be approved was their breakfast..it is ok but could be better.

If you are coming to Ecuador, you can not lose the chance to visit this amazing place.
It's located un Quito, the capital of the country and is one of the best hotels that I have ever been visited, the service is perfect and the people is very gentle and polite.

The food was very good, the menu had tipical food from the country and Latin America and it also had international food, so you can choose what you want to eat.

The bedroom has a beautiful view from the city and it has a big bathroom with bathtub and it's decorated the typical Ecuadorian colonial style.
Definitely, is a place to have a good time with your friends, relax and enjoy the pleasure of holidays.
