The owner made our stay fantastic and the breakfast was great each day. Only drawback is the less than warm shower. Tour for 12 hours was excellent. Louis made it that way. He also provided us with transportation to and from airport. Pretty good English also.

Room Tip: Matrimonial room.

I have never before written a review for a hotel or restaurant. The fact that I am doing so now is testimony to the outrageous service my husband and I received while staying in Jumbo Lodging. Luis, his wife and daughters went the extra mile to make our stay a truly memorable one.

The breakfasts were great, the building interesting and spotless, and the spanish lessons a real bonus. Thank you Luis for making the last days of our trip, the best!

Everything that's been said is true. Luis pays attention to detail, is friendly and attentive and so is his staff. My luggage was delayed for two days when I first arrived, and it was comforting to have an ally in Quito who helped me. He also had the best breakfasts that I had while in Ecuador including freshly-made juices! I wish him great success which he duly deserves. It's an excellent, safe place to use as a base while exploring Ecuador.

Jumbo lodging is a haven of warmth and conviviality. Whatever day Quito has thrown at you, the chances are you'll be able to enjoy reflecting on it in this homely environment while making plans for the next one.

Luis is a fine ambassador for Ecuadorean hospitality. He has an enthusiasm that can only come from someone who genuinely loves to have guests stay and help them with their adventures. His lodgings are traditional and straightforward, while his breakfasts appear to be becoming something of a Quito legend.

We stayed with Luis, Maria and family for 5 days and they really went out of their way to make us feel welcome and at home. They're such warm people and patient with us with our limited Spanish - Luis taught us many things, not least how to order breakfast!

It was the first place we stayed after flying in from London and we couldn't have hoped for anything more. They both came to the airport to meet us off the plane, drove us back to their lovely home in Quito's old town.

The breakfasts were amazing - fresh fruits (different each day), home made cereal with plain yoghurt from their farm in the north of Ecuador, fantastic huevos revueltos (scrambled eggs) on toast and delicious fruit smoothies (recommend the papaya and strawberry ones).
They helped us in any way they could - ordering us taxis, telling us where to go and where to avoid the more dodgy areas, directions and where to go for evening meals etc - literally everything.

We'd read that the old town could be quite dangerous particularly at night, but we took Luis' advice and had no trouble at all.

If you're looking for a very friendly, personable and genuine experience in the heart of Quito with people who are only too happy to please - we can't recommend this place highly enough. Just go!

Like a few others who have stayed with Luis and his family, we used Quito as a base for exploring Ecuador, and ended up staying at Jumbo Lodging four times during our three weeks in the country. Each time we returned, it felt like coming home! Luis and his family understand hospitality, and do their utmost to make you feel at home (in indeed, a member for the family). A great breakfast, huge rooms, wi-fi, travel advice and, for us non-Spanish speakers, help booking tours over the phone combined with Luis and co's warmth and friendliness make this a great place to stay.
