Owner description: "There’s a reason the South American Andes is spoken about with awe, and the cone of Ecuador’s Cotopaxi volcano is the icing on this mountainous hunk of cake. Scraping the sky at more than 5800 metres above sea level, the stratovolcano is currently snoozing after chucking a tantrum in late 2015, when it spat smoke and ash into the air. Rug up for altitude and thunder down its foothills on a 30-kilometre cycling trip with Biking Dutchman Tours. A back-up vehicle will carry you up high, where you’ll swing onto the saddle of a 21-speed mountain bike and head off-road, winding through ancient lava fields and past wild horses grazing in grassy plains studded with wildflowers. Stop at Incan ruins, enjoy a homemade picnic lunch, and spot the snowy giant reflected on the surface of Limpiopungo Lake... " GET LOST MAGAZINE

Our family of 4 took part in a 1-day Cotopaxi trip and thoroughly enjoyed it. Although it was rough at first (wind and sleet in the parking lot near the summit, but expected at 15,000 feet) once we descended a little the wind and sleet subsided and we had a great ride. Lots of variety, good service, and Ana Lucia (and son) are a pleasure to deal with.

Sometimes we read reviews that move us deeply, yours is definitely one of them! What you wrote “Ana Lucia (and son) are a pleasure to deal with” touched my heart.
What I keep wondering though, and maybe you can help me figuring it out, is what would it take to get the 5th star? We would love to hear that everything was PERFECT, but I guess that we are -after all- just humans and perfection is just not an option? Maybe you can give us a hint on how to improve and get that precious 5th star!
Thanks for trusting us YOUR FAMILY and we hope that you all felt safe with us.

We chose Biking Dutchman for a full day downhill tour, and we were so glad we did! Our guide and his friendly dog drove us to close to the top of the volcano (be warned, it's cold!), taught us all about the volcano and its glacier, gave us an informative safety lesson on downhill biking, and sent us on our way. The road down the volcano is steep, rough, and bumpy- expect sore hands from being on the breaks and a sore bottom! But the best part actually comes after. You get to bike through the beautiful plateaus and planes surrounding the volcano- this is the only biking company that does this and it was our favourite part by far, very beautiful. Definitely worth the money.

We read your report with much interest. You are one of the few passengers who had pointed out what makes us unique: “ You get to bike through the beautiful plateaus and planes surrounding the volcano- this is the only biking company that does this and it was our favourite part by far, very beautiful” . This is greatly appreciated!
We chose long time ago to be genuine, and we are very pleased to read that our clients appreciate that! So, thank you so very much for your great review!

I’m so glad we decided to settle on the Biking Dutchman for our trip to Cotopaxi. We had limited time so we decided to join the 1 day biking tour and what an amazing day it was. Our guide, Felipe, was incredible to say the least - He very obviously loves his job and is passionate in making everyone happy.
My wife and I were the least appropriate dressed (especially because we hadn’t originally planned to mountain bike) but this didn’t impact us one bit, it was pretty funny comparing out attire to the diehard trekkers on the trip - Handy tip though, come prepared for some mud, rugged terrain and showers (all part of the experience, so don’t be put off!)
After a brief explanation on the day, we were on the bikes conquring the mountain ranges and taking in that spectacular scenery. The bike ride itself was surreal and one of the most enjoyable things I’ve done throughout my travels. There were definitely times where the ride became challenging and more difficult, so please don’t expecting a leisurely ride down a mountain, but it’s the gorgeous surroundings and the sense of achievement that keeps you going! - for those of you unsure about your biking abilities, the actual service includes a Jeep following you throughout your ride, so if you need a rest or simply want to take in the scenery from the car, you’re more then welcome and encouraged to do so (so please don’t let your fitness levels stop you from joining this tour).
Towards the end of the ride, you’re treated to a wonderful lunch, cooked by Ana herself, which included a very tasty pasta salad and home cooked pasty. Lunch was perfectly coupled with her home made brownies, which was absolutely delicious - just a shame they didn’t serve any wine! haha.
I know you’ll enjoy every minute of this adventure, so if you’re thinking about it, just do it!

Your report in the TRIP ADVISOR is just as good as it gets, and we would like to thank you for that!
Your thorough description on how the day run is obviously written by someone who truly enjoyed it. Your encouragement that others (even the ones that are not outstanding bikers) is just awesome: “but it’s the gorgeous surroundings and the sense of achievement that keeps you going!” And so it is! Many clients have not being on a bike in years and yet, they enjoy the trip as much as others who have biking in their daily lives.
We cannot thank you enough for your time and we hope that others will follow your advice: “Just do it!”
