“Excellent location, very nice safe hotel in old town”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 3, 2011

I highly recommend this hotel if you appreciate atmosphere and a central location. You will be in the middle of all of the old town sites if you select this quaint hotel. Taxis are everywhere and the trolles (which are electric buses) can connect you with anywhere you want to go. Get a good large print map. The Trolles are extremely crowded most of the time...and I mean crowded like sardines! The locals told me repeated about being extra cautious. I was told to put my backpack in front of me and also zip up my jacket. However, honestly I never really got that "being endangered" feeling. The out of town bus terminals have changed and this information is not reflected in any of the 3 major travel guides so ask someone before you go to connect to other places. Go to Otovalo during the weekday but leave early and return the same day. Quito is a nice place to visit. Continue on to Banos and Cuenca for a thorough trip.

My partner and I stayed there, because we had to stay one night in QUito before going to the Galapagos Island. We could profit the breakfast, but the staff was nice and prepared us some sandwishes. The free internet access was verx helpfull

pros: good value (i'd like to think that i got an upgrade), beautiful multicolored floors in large rooms, nice shower, helpful night/evening staff, rooftop breakfast, decor of common areas.

cons: street noise -- i asked for a quiet room but ended up above small street, had to turn on fan for white noise when traffic started up in early morning. multiple taxis refused to come to this part of town bc too much traffic, this part of quito has reputation for un-safety. horrendous day staff didn't follow through with any information requests and/or care that the hotel didn't have drinking water for 2 days.

This hotel is perfectly situated in the center of Old Town and a great place to walk around the city! The rooms are clean and spacious and the breakfast was wonderful. I think the only thing that this hotel is lacking is a warm and welcoming staff. We checked in around 11PM at night, and the front desk agent was vert curt and didn't tell us anything about the hotel or surrounding area. They also didn't tell us that breakfast was included, so we were lucky that we had known about that before our arrival.

The combination of positive TripAdvisor member reviews and price-point of this hotel encouraged my selection of this hotel. Even though my flight arrived late at night, the night clerk was very nice and helpful with the check-in process. I had reserved a single room, but due to their scheduling other guests later that week, I was upgraded for my entire stay to a two-bedroom suite on the third floor (which was very nice and roomy). The beds were pretty comfortable and the bathroom was nice with a big shower (and lots of hot water - after you give it a few minutes to get to your room). There is a small TV with a few English channels and more Spanish channels. The breakfast area is up on the fourth floor and has a great view of the Virgin of Quito statue up on the hill (you can get a great panoramic view of the city from the statue's observation deck). The included breakfast is simplistic and could offer a few more selections, but the eggs cooked-to-order helped to tide me over until lunch. There are two computers on the second floor with internet access and wi-fi is available at no additional charge. The location of this hotel is fantastic for walking the area to see the various plazas, parks and cathedrals. Most of the main streets in Old Town are well-lit, so I didn't feel unsafe at night (even during the crowded Founding of Quito festival last week). The hotel has a locked gate at the street level, so you just ring the doorbell to be let inside. When taking a taxi, make sure you take a hotel card or brochure. Since this is a relatively new place, some drivers are not aware of it's location. If you're looking for a larger selection of restaurants, you may want to go over to New Town Quito in the Mariscal area/district. If you're looking for a good location in Old Town at a reasonable price, you are likely to enjoy this property.

This was a surprise for the price. An immaculate, comfortable and interesting hotel on a side street near the major sites in Viego Quito. The entry and lower level is spacious and well-appointed. The second floor is where the rooms are located. Unfortunately, some of the rooms have no outside window. We stayed in one for one night and I personally think they are very creepy. However, rooms that have windows, actually floor-length doors across the front looking down on the small street, are delightful and we didn't find them noisy. The breakfast area is sunny with a wonderful vista across the tops of surrounding buildings to the visible mountain tops.

My wife and I spent one night in Quito returning to Miami, after four days in the Galapagos Islands. The taxi from the airport to the Hotel Boutique Plaza Sucre cost only $ 7 and took 25 minutes. The hotel location is very good, near the old town of Quito. Because we didn't get any food before arrive in Quito we just left the bags in our room and ask for any place to eat something. Just two blocks from the hotel is La Ronda, where you can eat and drink after 11:00 pm. The region where is located the hotel seems to be safe and well lit thanks to the churches around.
We stayed in relatively good room, with the main window facing the interior of the building. I can not say how it would be during the day but the only night we spent was very calm.
Before the stairs, which gives access to the rooms ,are two computers connected to internet for free use. In the room had a TV with many international channels in English and Spanish and also a clock radio.
For one or two days in Quito I would recommend this hotel.
