We were thrilled with this bargain hotel choice. Someone from the hotel picked us up at the airport (at midnight) and drove us straight to the hotel. We checked in quickly and were able to purchase a much needed bottle of water for $1 before going to our room. Our room was large and clean, had a fireplace, and was nicely decorated. The bathroom was a good size, had decent hot water pressure, and included only soap in the way of amenities. There is free wifi in the common areas, but we didn't use it. The hotel is very well located, on a quiet street but near major streets, so taking the bus and walking to nearby bars and restaurants was easy.
The hotel staff was very friendly and called taxis for us when we needed them.
Breakfast was decent, with terrible coffee, and included fruit, rolls and jam, juice, and eggs cooked to order.
We would definitely return to this hotel!

Hotel Andino was our first stop on arriving in southamerica, and it was a great place to spend our first few days. Miguel is a great guy and always willing to help. After providing us with so much help though our stay, at the end of our stay Miguel went one step further and took us to the airport free of charge. On the downside, the Hotel was a bit pricy for whats offered. Standard breakfast was on offer, certainly nothing above the norm for the price we were paying. Overall it was clean and safe and we'd recommend it.

We stayed at Hotel Andino during an inspection trip of Ecuador. Miguel was very accommodating, allowing us to leave things with him while we explored different parts of the country. Rooms are decent and there is hot water in the private bathrooms. Location is nice, near Plaza Foch and other sits in the Mariscal District. Breakfast is simple but sufficient.

Miguel is very accommodating and goes out of his way to help; his ability to communicate in English is a real bonus. The rooms are extremely good value (hot showers, clean and comfortable) and the location near the centre of Mariscal Sucre is perfect. Breakfast could have been a little more substantial, but compared with other hotels, Andino's value is unbeatable.

The hotel is abt 5 min easy walk to Foch Plaza, where restaurants/ pubs/ nightlife of Quito are located but taxidrivers sometimes do not know it so bring the hotel address card for convenience. Stayed there for 5 nights altogether as part of our galapagos program and found the rooms clean and comfortable. However, the walls are thin and the floorboards creak so quite noisy if there are travellers leavg early morng or coming back late at night. Miguel, the host is very accommodating and helpful. Would stay there again.

This is one of the best places to stay when you're on a budget in Ecuador. Clean, hot water, great breakfast, and wonderful staff. The place is a 5 minute walk from Plaza Foch and a ton of great restaurants.

We really loved chatting with Miguel, who has a great sense of humour. The place really feels like a home away from home.

Room Tip: Ask for room 5! When we were there it had a double and a single bed, a table, a bench, a small clos...

My wife and I stayed here in March 2012. I arrived with a stomach virus(?) and everyone was very helpful in trying to resolve my problem. Although I ignored everyone and was better after a day or so, the concern shown was very comforting.
Miguel was tolerant in allowing us to speak with him in Spanish, which we enjoyed. He was also very receptive to suggestions - more lights in the room for reading. This is not a luxury hotel, but so what? The breakfasts were good, the owner and staff friendly and helpful, and everyone willing to provide information as needed. Miguel even let me print out our boarding passes for our departure flight.
As other reviews have mentioned, plenty of hot water, good wifi, and quiet (except for the door bell ringing in middle of night - my wife reminds me). They could use more of a comfortable common area for guests to meet and mingle. As Miguel explained to me, the hotel is fairly new, I think 3 years, and is a work in progress. He is receptive to suggestions to make this hotel better.
In addition, the hotel uses the services of a taxi/tour guide, Patricio, who was very reliable and who we used 2 days for tours around Quito and then to Otavalo area, and who also picked us up and took us to the airport. Maybe a little more expensive than others, but very reliable, friendly, and lots of good stories, especially if you speak Spanish.
Overall, a positive experience and would recommend Hotel Andino to all.
